Thewick is hung on a wire, lit at the top, placed in the container to be treated (barrels, demijohns, etc.) and close the container with a stopper.
After 2 hours, the wire is pulled out of the treated container so that the rest of the wicks remain intact.
When treating an area, wicks are hung in an open space at a safe distance from combustible objects and ignited.
Leave the area immediately after lighting and close it! After 2 hours, ventilate the room.
For the treatment of larger areas (over 5m3) we recommend using our product sulphur candles.
Warning
Burning releases sulphur dioxide, a toxic gas, CAS 7446-09-05.
Sulphur (cheMical symbol S, Latin Sulphur) is a yellow non-metallic cheMical element, quite abundant in nature.it belongs to the group of chalcogens. Sulphur was known already in ancient times and e.g. in ancient China, it served as one of the components of Gunpowder. Sulphur is still used today as a component of various explosives and fireworks, although the importance of these mixtures has declined considerably since the invention of dynamite. In the cheMical industry, elemental sulfur is mainly used for vulcanizing Rubber. The amount of sulphur added to the mixture then determines the hardness of the resulting product. Furthermore, elemental sulphur is the basic raw material for the production of sulphuric acid.
Sulphur is an important component of various fungicides, i.e. agents that counteract the growth of fungi and moulds. Sulfurization of cellars and barrels for storing wine or Beer effectively prevents the growth of unwanted moulds and microorganisms.
Sulphur is contained in a number of molecules essential for the functioning of living organisms. Typical are essential amino acids such as Cysteine and Methionine, which form part of the proteins present in virtually all living organisms. Before 1989, sulphur dioxide was a major air quality problem, mainly due to the massive burning of high-sulphur coal. Reaction with Water vapour in the atmosphere produces sulphuric and sulphuric acids, which are involved in the acid rain that has been responsible for the destruction of spruce forests, for example. Jizera and Ore Mountains. Between 1990 and 2006, SO2 emissions in the Czech Republic decreased by almost 90% due to the installation of efficient desulphurisation plants, mostly using alkaline sorbents (ground limestone or MAGNESITE). SO2 emissions from small sources have been increasing in recent years. Currently, sulphur oxide emissions are a problem mainly in third world countries such as China and India.
