Health-safe, intended for food purposes. If you want to keep the food warm (for example, if you want to leave it in the oven longer), the shiny side should face outwards. When you cook food in a hurry, the matte side should face out. The shiny side simply reflects the heat and the matte side lets it in.
Alobal is particularly popular in the kitchen because of its versatility, low price and ease of use. Food can be defrosted, frozen, baked or stored in foil.
Alobal - what is it made of?
Alobal is the trade name for aluminium foil that is no more than 14 micrometres high. As its official name implies, it is made of an aluminium alloy (from bauxite) using an enormous amount of electricity. The main purpose of aluminium foil is to protect food from light, oxygen, moisture and bacteria at extreme temperatures (minus and plus).
For reference:
Try the so-called bio foil, which is made from recyclable aluminium. The production of recycled aluminium requires 95% less energy than the production of primary aluminium, from which aluminium foil is commonly produced.
Use of foil in the kitchen
Foil is an indispensable tool in the kitchen because of its excellent protective properties. It protects the nutritional value and quality of food, and is used to wrap food placed in the refrigerator to protect it from drying out. At the same time, it can also preserve the taste, aroma, vitamins and consistency of food. The high thermal conductivity of aluminium makes it easy to defrost, bake, grill or freeze. The foil can be used to bake meat, fish, meatloaf, skewers, potatoes, roll dough or dumplings. Food prepared in foil stays beautifully juicy.
Using foil in the kitchen - useful hints and tips
Thanks to foil, we can keep Vegetables fresh for a longer period of time because it protects them from external influences. Beware of acidic Vegetables, which can react to the aluminium foil and turn bitter.
Before baking, first coat the foil with fat (butter or oil) on the inside to prevent the baked food from sticking to it.
When grilling, we can use the foil to prepare meat skewers (they will be soft and juicy), or as a base when grilling meat, fish, sauSages and Vegetables (so that the grease does not drip into the fire).
When preparing skewers in foil, always place the wrapped packets 'cap' side up and place them in close proximity to the heat source. It is advisable to cut the meat and Vegetables into thinner slices, they will cook through faster and let the juices out.
We can use the foil to create an original cake or candy mould. Cut a piece of foil and fold it over. Then twist and shape it in various ways. Join the edges at the end.
The foil is also excellent for making cakes. Line a baking tray with foil and pour the dough on it, place in the oven and bake. The foil will help us to keep the edges of the cake from overlapping.
