Pink hues and impressive banded patterns are the main benefits that make pink agate a unique stone that is popular all over the world. It is a variety of chalcedony (the common name for fibrous cryptocrystalline quartz) that, like most others, originates from Brazil. Brazilian agates are porous and absorb dyes well in solutions. In this case, the agate has been dyed pink, which is absorbed with varying intensity into the different layers during dyeing, creating beautiful banded patterns on the surface.
