Prontosan-W solution can be used on wounds in any condition.The solution is used undiluted.
Due to the relatively low humidity, the dressing must be changed at least once a day, but preferably several times a day. Application should be made as often as possible until all plaques and necroses can be easily removed and the wound is clean to the eye. This is a prerequisite for natural wound healing and allows surgical treatment with an optimal prognosis. For large and hard-to-reach wounds, a full-body bath in Prontosan® wound rinse solution for at least 15 minutes is recommended.
How to use it?
During rinsing, the solution can be applied directly from the bottle to the wound thanks to the spout adapted for spraying. The wound can also be gently cleaned with a swab or square soaked in the solution. If it is necessary to loosen the biofilm from the wound, soak the square with the rinse solution, apply to the wound and leave for 10 - 15 minutes.
If the dressing cannot be easily removed from the wound during dressing and there is a risk of disrupting the newly forming tissue, it is recommended to moisten the wound dressing intensively with the rinse solution until it can be gently removed. If the encrustation is hard and extensive, the entire body area and the covering should be thoroughly soaked with the rinse solution until it can be easily removed.
Once opened, it can be used for up to 8 weeks.
You may alsobe interested to know that for patients with chronic wounds, the procedure of changing the cover and treating the wound is much more comfortable if the rinse solution is tempered to body temperature. At this temperature, the cleaning and bactericidal action of the solution is also much more effective. It is therefore recommended to warm the rinse solution to a temperature of approximately 37°C, e.g. in a baby bottle warmer.
Symptoms
Not cytotoxic, non-irritating, non-sensitizing, non-painful, does not slow granulation and epithelialization, dermatologically assessed as harmless. Many years of clinical experience have shown good tissue tolerability of both polyhexanide and undecylenamidopropyl Betaine even in patients with extremely large chronic wounds.
Contraindications
As allergy can never be ruled out, Prontosan® Wound Rinsing Solution should not be used if there is a known or suspected allergy to one of the ingredients. Do not use on hyaline cartilage. Do not use in combination with angiogenic tensides as they impair the preservative ability. Prontosan® wound rinse solution should also not be mixed with other soaps, ointments, oils or enzymes, etc. for cleaning wounds. When removing these substances from the wound, it is important to ensure that they have been completely removed from the wound using Prontosan® wound rinse solution
For external use on skin wounds only. Do not use for infusion or injection! Don't swallow. Only use the product in its perfect, intact packaging. Protect from sunlight. A medical device. Keep out of reach of children.
