Žindava dorůstá do výšky 50 cm, má lysý stonek a drobné bílé květy. Kvete od června do července, sbírá se její kvetoucí nať. Žindava evropská obsahuje saponiny, třísloviny, silice, pryskyřice a hořčiny. Žindava je také bohatá na některé minerály jako např. křemík, selen, molybden, které mohou mít pozitivní vliv na pleť. Žindava pomáhá urychlovat hojení ran.
