The company Doetsch Grether was founded in Basel, Switzerland in 1899, initially focusing on pharmaceuticals. Later, the company's interest also turned to skincare – thus, a cosmetics department was created, which later became independent under the fenjal brand.

The first product of the newly established fenjal brand was a creamy bath oil introduced in 1962. A year later, the new brand was presented in the international market, where it met with favorable interest and popularity.

Scientific knowledge combined with a constant pursuit of perfection contributed to the expansion of the new Swiss cosmetics, which still enjoys great favor today - including its newly launched products.
