HDPE, Polyethylene film
What is HDPE
High-density Polyethylene, sometimes referred to as high-density Polyethylene (HDPE) or high-density Polyethylene (PE-HD), is a thermoplastic invented in 1954 by Karl Ziegler of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute (now the Max Planck Institute) and Erhard Holzkamp. In 1963, Ziegler was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his invention of HDPE. In Czechoslovakia, HDPE film has been produced under the brand name MIKROTEN since 1976. This name has gradually become so popular that it has become synonymous with HDPE films.
The density of HDPE ranges from 0.93 to 0.97 g/cm3, temperature resistant from -50 °C to 110 °C. High density Polyethylene is cheMically resistant, odourless and suitable for direct food contact, non-toxic, recyclable. The foils are characteristically rustic, Water impermeable, have minimal Water vapour and odour permeability, and gradually degrade due to UV radiation. HDPE is widely used, for example, for the production of cooking bags, PET bottle caps, baby bottles, Water pipes, gas pipes, cheMical-resistant pipes, fuel tanks for cars, packaging for cleaning products, insulation boards, welded products. It is increasingly being used to produce materials used as wood substitutes (WPC). Products are marked with a recycling symbol.
