1. Don't torment your skin with aggressive cosmetics. Avoid using products containing alcohol
– as it dries out the skin, strips it of shine, and promotes the production of more oil. If you have sensitive skin, prefer unfragranced products.
2. Choose quality makeup remover pads. Use those that have a firm structure and a gentle surface that won’t irritate the delicate skin around the eyes. If the pads break apart, shed fibers, or are too rough, switch to another type. Wet wipes are more suitable for vacation, avoid using them daily.
3. Don’t press too hard on your skin while removing makeup. It’s not true that the more pressure you apply, the more thoroughly you remove impurities. Gentle cotton pads with microfiber can clean your skin effectively without unnecessary scrubbing,
which only irritates your skin. Remove makeup with gentle, soft strokes.
4. A damp face is much easier to cleanse. Lightly dampen either your face or the cotton pad with makeup remover tonic. But be careful about the pads you use – lesser quality ones can easily break apart when wet, leaving your skin littered with cotton fibers.
5. Change pads frequently. Always use multiple pads for one makeup removal. A soiled pad transfers impurities back onto the skin, unnecessarily clogging pores again. Once the pad is dirty, replace it with a clean one.
6. Use larger pads for the forehead and cheeks. For example, try Bel's oval pads. They are larger than standard round pads, and one pad can cover a much larger area of skin. Smaller round pads
are better suited for removing eye makeup and the last remnants of cosmetics.
7. Start by removing eye makeup. You typically have the most makeup on your eyes, so remove that first. Use only tonics specifically formulated for eye makeup removal to avoid unpleasant redness, burning in the eyes, and tearing. For waterproof mascara, use an oil-based remover. Take care with thoroughly removing eye makeup, as remnants can lead to conjunctivitis.
8. Continue with your forehead, moving down through the nose and cheeks. Once your eyes are cleansed, take a larger oval pad, apply makeup remover lotion to it, and gently remove makeup from top to bottom – start at your forehead
and continue down through your nose and cheeks to your chin. Cleanse until the last pad is completely clean. Use facial tonic to finish cleansing your skin.
9. Don’t forget to remove makeup from your lips. Bacteria and impurities also accumulate on your lips, which can cause cracking at the corners or premature wrinkles around your mouth. First, apply a drop of makeup remover emulsion to your lips, then slightly dampen the pad and wipe the makeup away with gentle circular motions over the entire lip area.
10. Don’t neglect your neck. The neck is an indicator of your age. The skin on the neck is very delicate and prone to the first wrinkle formation. Therefore, take a larger pad and remove impurities from the neck from chin down to the décolletage.
