Use a brush to apply an adequate amount of powder. However, it is important to apply the powder lightly from the centre of the face and the T-zone to the edges around the hair. This method is suitable for daytime make-up, where the aim is to mattify the skin and give it a velvety look.
If you have a long night ahead of you, a swan application is a good option. Apply the powder and lightly tap off the excess. Then fold the swan in half to create an area to apply to the face as if you were going to roll the half-arch you created by folding it over the facial areas, trying to gently press the powder into the previous layer of make-up to lock it in place. This technique will make the make-up last much longer. Don't forget the jawline and neck areas too. There's nothing attractive about having a visible transition between the part with and without make-up.
TIP: Never blend powder over your face. This will only result in the previous layer of concealer or make-up being spread elsewhere than where you originally intended. Powder needs to be blended.
Be sure to keep the applicator you use to apply the powderclean. Since powder is used to help mattify oily areas, sebum from the skin can build up in the applicator, so it's important to clean the applicators regularly.
