Pour the yeast or alcohol into the graduated cylinder, use a thermometer to find out the temperature of the liquid (the ideal temperature is 20° C) then dip the alcohol meter into the graduated cylinder and the value you measure is the percentage of alcohol. If the liquid has a different temperature you need to calculate the percentage of alcohol using tables.
