Selenite is a fibrous and translucent form of gypsum. It is a relatively common mineral, formed when seawater dries in shallow bays and lagoons. The most famous selenite deposit is in Morocco, in the Mibladen region, where we also obtain it.

Our selenite is semi-transparent to milky white and is striking for its silky lustre. It is widely used for the production of various decorative objects due to its easy workability.

Limitations: It is a mineral of the sulphite group, soluble in acids and salt solutions.
