Prescription for 1 litre
Dissolve one heaped tablespoon of potato Starch in a quarter litre of cold Water. Bring the remaining Water - 3/4 litre - to the boil and stir in the Starch in a gentle stream. After bubbles form, cook for two more minutes.
Prepare the Starch properly as follows:
Take a tablespoon of potato Starch per litre of Water. Place a larger pot of Water on the stove and before the Water starts to boil, stir the measured potato Starch into a little cold Water and slowly pour in the boiling Water, stirring constantly. As soon as a bubble appears on the surface, wean off. Strain the Starch thus cooked into Water and Starch first the white linen and then the coloured linen.

The housewife, who wants to save herself the work of the next wash, Starches almost all the linen, because she knows that the dirt slides off the Starched linen and is easily washed away with Water, thus saving not only labour and soap, but also the linen, which soon disintegrates by too much scrubbing on the mound.
In winter, Starch laundry is much more prevalent, as it takes longer to dry and the Starch partially "freezes".
Well-scraped laundry clothes and aprons stay clean longer.
Laundry Starched with Solamyl potato meal and properly sprayed is ironed beautifully and has a nice appearance.
Scrape a lot of lace blankets, collars and embroidered blankets, then press into a soft flannel backing and iron over the face to achieve a printed pattern.
