Topaz is one of the longest known gemstones. Legend has it that it was found by shipwrecked pirates on the island of Cytis in the Red Sea. Hence the name, as in Arabic topaz means "they sought and found". It is clear, can be yellow, yellow-red, light blue, greenish or pink, and is always glassy. It can be found in Brazil, Madagascar, Kenya and Namibia. This rough comes from Namibia.
