The stone is famous for its yellow to yellow-brown colouring, which is accompanied by a silky lustre. Due to its striking appearance, it is therefore used for the production of exclusive figurines and jewellery. Its occurrence is limited to a few locations worldwide, the most famous of which is the Doorn Mountains in South Africa, where we source it from.

In terms of composition, it is a quartz permeated with parallel fibres of so-called crocodolite asbestos, a fibrous variety of amphibole riebeckite.
