Alkaprén 50 plus toluene-free contact adhesive, for rubber, metal, glass, 50 ml

Alkaprén® 50 Plus is a toluene-free rubber-based contact adhesive in light beige color, designed for bonding absorbent and non-absorbent materials (e.g., rubber - concrete, leather - rubber, laminate - wood). The product is also suitable for bonding rubber roofing waterproofing membranes to concrete, CETRIS boards, bitumen membranes, and similar applications.

When bonding absorbent substrates with non-absorbent ones, Alkaprén® 50 Plus is applied in a single layer using a brush, spatula, or spray gun. When joining absorbent materials, at least one of them must be coated with a second layer before bonding. The adhesive must be thoroughly mixed before application. A thin layer of adhesive is applied to a cleaned and degreased substrate (smooth surfaces should be roughened beforehand), allowed to become tacky, and then the two surfaces are joined. It is recommended to press or weight the joint. Mechanical stress on the joint can occur only after 24 hours from bonding.

The best results when bonding are achieved at a temperature of 20 °C. Application of cooled adhesive leads to joints with significantly lower strength. If the temperature drops below 5 °C, gelling may occur, rendering the adhesive unusable. The original consistency can be restored by slowly tempering at room temperature around 25 °C, during which the adhesive must be mixed repeatedly. After tempering, it exhibits its original physical and mechanical properties. Direct heating must not be used for tempering! At temperatures below 0 °C, irreversible coagulation occurs, and its adhesive properties can no longer be restored.
