The AQUAfresh brand (originally Aqua-Fresh) has been on the market since 1973. It was established under the wings of the pharmaceutical company Beecham Group, which is now part of the global GlaxoSmithKline group. The original design symbolized "double protection" - a white strip with fluoride to protect teeth and a blue "aqua" for fresh breath. Ten years later, the formula was reformulated as "triple protection" by adding a red ingredient for healthy gums. The three stripes - red, white and blue - have been a registered trademark of AQUAfresh since 1983.
