Description Bros Granular Calcium Carbide Mole Repellent, 500 g
BROS CARBIDE or calcium carbide, which can vary in color from light purple to brown to dark gray, is used in acetylene lamps. Water slowly drips from the reservoir into the space of the carbide generator. A chemical reaction releases gaseous ethyne, which rises through the lamp body to the upper valve, where the gas is burned. With its characteristic odor, this substance resembles garlic.
As a result of moisture from the air, a light brown to light gray coating formed by calcium hydroxide develops on the grains of calcium carbide. Calcium acetylide itself does not have harmful effects on the human body; however, upon contact with wet skin, it transforms into calcium hydroxide, which exhibits mild corrosive effects; as a result, moisture is lost and the skin dries out, so it is advisable to avoid direct contact with calcium acetylide.

The production date is indicated on the packaging, and the shelf life of the product is 24 months.

Find the active tunnels of the mole. Clear the soil from the mounds and place 10-15 g (1/2 tablespoon) of the agent into each tunnel. Lightly cover the opening with soil without destroying the tunnel. By the action of soil moisture (or slight watering), the carbide is released into the soil. Repeat daily until new molehills stop appearing. After about 3 days, the number of new molehills will visibly decrease. Areas where BROS-Calcium carbide mole repellent has been applied can continue to be used.
When reacting with air moisture, the granules of calcium carbide become covered with a light brown to light gray layer of calcium hydroxide. Calcium carbide itself has no harmful effects on the human body, but when in contact with wet skin, it turns into calcium hydroxide, which has mild caustic effects, leading to moisture loss and thus drying out the skin, so it is not recommended to come into direct contact with calcium carbide.
Dosing: > 10 - 15 g (1/2 tablespoon) per molehill

Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Use protective gloves and goggles. Avoid contact with water. In case of fire, use a fire extinguisher or dry powder to extinguish. It is not recommended to extinguish the fire with water, as this may lead to a subsequent reignition of the fire. Store in a dry place. Keep in a closed container.
First aid. Remove the affected person to fresh air. Rinse eyes with water for several minutes, wash contaminated skin with water and soap. Do not induce vomiting if ingested. If the affected person is conscious, offer them egg whites or milk. Seek medical attention immediately. In situations where other than medical help outlined in the recommendations is necessary, contact the Toxicological Information Center of the Occupational Disease Clinic.
