The treatment of wood is long-lasting to permanent, the agent does not decompose in the wood. Wormstop is advantageous for the preventive protection of wooden buildings including beams of bindings and trusses, floors, furniture, wooden cladding, but it is also effective for the remedial treatment of wood already attacked by wood rot. Wood treated with a chemical agent for eliminating woodworms must not be used for the production of children's toys or dishes. Where treated wood comes into contact with skin, it must be covered with a coat of hard varnish.
Wormstop is usually applied by brush or spray application, by injecting the agent, or by immersing the item in a bath of the agent.
Preventive treatment against infestation by wood-destroying pests is recommended to be performed with at least two applications to create a continuous effective protective film that ensures reliable protection of the wood against wood-destroying pests and fungal diseases or wood rot, even in the future. Treated wood does not have any visual changes and can be further treated with standard procedures such as staining, painting, varnishing, or coloring. Wood after the application of Wormstop must be protected from moisture.
In the case of remediation of wood already infested by woodworm or fungal diseases, it is necessary to ensure complete saturation of Wormstop into the internal layers of the wood. To increase the effectiveness of treatment, injection of the agent into pre-drilled holes in beams can be utilized. Repeatedly treat infested areas with Wormstop at intervals of 1 month.
The effectiveness of Wormstop can be increased by previously moistening the treated surface with water and wrapping the treated items in PE film.
It is advantageous to work under conditions that allow the coating to dry slowly, i.e., at lower temperatures from +5 °C to +10 °C, with higher humidity (Wormstop will penetrate deeper into the wood).
