CORSIL is a silicone primer developed for effective protection of steel and cast iron objects and structures exposed to cyclic thermal and corrosive stresses.
It is formulated based on top-quality silicone resin using modern inorganic anti-corrosive spinel pigments, which do not degrade even at temperatures around 700 °C.
The paint permanently withstands temperatures up to 550 °C, temporarily up to 700 °C. The projected properties of the cured film are achieved after firing at approx. 230 °C for 30 minutes. The unfired coating dries in air physically, is softer, and does not withstand oil substances. The fired coating is resistant to organic
solvents, diesel, gasoline, and diluted acid and alkali solutions. CORSIL is advantageously used to protect engine components, heat exchangers, flue pipes, etc. In multiple layers (min. 3), it is also used for overall protection. The suitable topcoat for CORSIL is BISIL Thermo.
PROPERTIES:
Gloss: ČSN ISO 2813 (gloss meter B.G.ProGloss three-angle)...geom.60° The unfired film is around 15 units; after firing approximately 5 units. The appearance of the cured film is continuous, smooth, matte; after the solvent evaporation, it is also health-safe!
Adhesion: (ČSN ISO2409) to steel st.0-1
Coverage: red-brown EXCELLENT
Hardness: (pendulum PERSOZ) approx. 15% unfired; approx. 30% after firing.
Efficiency: 5-7 m²/kg paint in one layer. This value is indicative and is significantly influenced by the structure of the substrate and the complexity of the painted object.
Drying: (20 °C, rel.hum...65%) film non-sticky in approx. 60 min.
Firing conditions: 230 °C for 30 min.
The paint is applied in at least two layers. The optimal thickness of the cured film for definitive protection (without topcoat) is 120 µm. In the case of a topcoat application, at least a total thickness of the cured film of 120-150 µm is prescribed, taking into account the aggressiveness of the environment - see the principles of ČSN EN ISO 129441-8 and related.
APPLICATION:
The paint is applied with a brush, roller, spraying, or dipping. It is always better to apply the first layer with a brush. During the application, it is recommended to allow each layer to dry separately and gradually fire them. In cases where this procedure cannot be ensured, it is possible to first allow the previous layers to dry thoroughly and then fire the entire assembly
as a whole, e.g., during operation. In this case, the temperature rise must be gradual. The most suitable preparation of steel and cast iron substrates is blasting.
Minimum requirements: removal of rust and old degraded coatings from the substrate and degreasing! Optimal degreasing of the substrate, e.g., 2× coating with a special preparation IZOKOR. This is followed by the actual coating system usually 2× CORSIL + min.2× BISIL Thermo (break between layers min. 4 hours). For substrate preparation and application,
we recommend following the principles of technical standards ČSN EN ISO 12944 1-8 and related regulations ČSN ISO 8501 1-2, 8502 2-6.
METHOD OF USE:
Steel flue pipes, exhausts of vehicles made of rusting steel, vents from dryers, steel pipelines for sharp and hot steam, heat exchangers ...
a) for temperature around 400 °C:
- substrate preparation
- 1× coating CORSIL
- 30 min. drying at normal temperature
- 30 min. firing at a temperature of 200 °C
- 1-2× coating or spraying CORSIL
- drying at normal temperature and again firing
b) for temperature around 700 °C:
- substrate preparation
- 2× coating CORSIL
- 30 min. drying at normal temperature
- 30 min. firing at a temperature of 200 °C
- 2× coating or spraying BISIL Thermo
- drying at normal temperature and again firing layer by layer
SHELF LIFE:
24 months from the date of production. Storage temperature from +5 °C to +35 °C. The product must be properly sealed in original packaging... ČSN 65 0201.
DILUTION:
Dilution with technical xylene, S 6005. For primer coatings (subcategory B/ c) the paint can be diluted with a maximum of 10% (by weight) of thinner. For other
applications, the paint is no longer diluted. The paint is optimally diluted from production. Shake the paint before use!
