Synthetic thixotropic wood stain.
CHARACTERISTICS AND USE:
LAZUROL GOLD S1037 wood stain is intended for long-term protective colored transparent coatings of soft and hardwood exposed to weather conditions as well as for interior coatings, e.g. garden furniture, wooden gables, ceilings, wall paneling, fences, cabins, and wooden houses. It creates an attractive (decorative) protective coating film on the surface of the wood that emphasizes the wood grain and simultaneously strengthens the wood, providing long-term protection against moisture and UV radiation.
Key features:
• long-lasting durability
• does not drip during application
• exclusive appearance
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
The wood must be clean, dry, well-sanded, with a moisture content of max. 12%, and free of any resin residues before application. Wood with a high resin content (larch, pine) must be thoroughly cleaned of any resin exudation, e.g. by washing with BALTECH C6000 thinner. The quality of the wood pre-treatment affects the overall appearance of the final wood finish and also the overall longevity of the coating system.
The surface of the wood must first be impregnated with a suitable primer that ensures even absorption of the substrate and higher protection of the wood (in the case of using a fungicidal primer, it also protects against attack by mold, fungi, and insects). Subsequently, the surface of the wood needs to be sanded with fine sandpaper before applying the thick-layer wood stain.
For interior coatings, it is recommended to use colorless LAZUROL CLASSIC S1023 as a primer, while for exterior coatings, LAZUROL IMPREGNATING BASE S1033 is suitable as a primer.
When renovating old coatings, the wood must be stripped of all non-adhering coatings and ensure a good substrate strength (when completely removing the old coating, the new coating is applied gradually, including impregnating the wood).
DILUTION: thinner BALTECH S6006 (especially for cleaning tools)
Theoretical coverage: 17 m2/1 liter for one coat depending on the absorbency of the substrate
WORKING PROCEDURE:
Before use, mix thoroughly. LAZUROL GOLD is not to be diluted, and it is applied with a brush or roller onto a pre-prepared, impregnated, and lightly sanded wooden substrate in 2 to 3 layers, with the second coat being able to apply after 6 hours. Any sanding of the previous coat can take place after 24 hours. The coating should be applied in the direction of the wood grain. Color shades are mutually mixable. The type, surface, and previous coat of the wood affect the final shade of the coating, therefore we recommend performing a test coat before the final application. Complaints about color shades will only be accepted if a test coat was made prior to implementation and this was reported to us.
For uniform areas, always use material from the same production batch. Using the same batch guarantees the same color shade. It is recommended to mix color shades from different batches in a larger container before application. The shade of the stain further depends on the number and thickness of the coats (the sample catalog is developed on sanded spruce wood onto which 3 coats were applied with a brush as per the recommended procedure).
This product is not suitable for flooring and wood in permanently damp environments (e.g. saunas), wood treated with oils or waxes, or products containing waxes.
If this product is used to treat wood with a high tannin content (acacia, oak, larch), it is necessary to first perform a test coat. Due to the high tannin content, slow drying, subsequent leaching of tannins, and overall impact on the appearance of the coating film may occur.
Tinting:
Additional color shades are prepared by tinting in the TELURMIX tinting system.
You may find covering materials like masking tape or covering foil handy. Don’t forget brushes and rollers.
