Resistance to diseases:
Aurea is completely resistant to CMV virus and highly resistant to ZYMV. It is also significantly resistant (in field conditions) to cucumber downy mildew - among fine varieties, it is one of the best. Other common cucumber diseases such as cucumber black rot, bacterial wilt, and powdery mildew did not occur during testing.
Site sunny place, not under trees.
Soil permeable, warming, humus-rich, well-fertilized. Row spacing 80-120 cm, in the row 20 cm (in the high tunnel 40 cm), with 2-3 seeds per nest. Sowing time in the garden safely after May 15, in warmer areas even between May 5-10, with cover film sowing can be done with some risk even at the end of April.
Seedling pre-cultivation: allows for an earlier harvest - before the onset of fungus attack. Sowing in pots after April 20, plenty of light, hardening (mainly at night temperature 16°C), planting in the garden after May 15. Only seedlings torn from pots are unsuitable. Covering young plants with foil after early sowing and after planting until mid-June speeds up plant growth. Small hinged foil covers that allow for ventilation are suitable.
Watering during dry periods, especially during fruiting, is very important.
Larger amounts of water, but less frequently. Do not wet the leaves, best only at the roots. Plants grow very quickly with sufficient moisture and nutrients and replace leaves damaged by fungus. Fertilization at the beginning of flowering with lime or poultry manure greatly encourages the growth of the foliage (together with watering).
Vertical system:
leading the foliage upwards on strings, wires, nets, etc. (up to 150-200) is a partial, but effective protection against mildew. Leaves above ground dry quickly (after rain, dew) and dry ones better resist attacks. Harvest as often as possible, at least 2-3 times a week. Leaving overgrown fruits causes a stop in foliage growth and limits the set of additional fruits.
Do not use seeds for consumption.
Store in a dry and cool place, out of reach of children. Dispose of the packaging at hazardous waste collection points.
