Baltech sodium hydroxide (lye) is intended for cleaning pipes and drains, for use in degreasing baths, and for dyeing and bleaching textiles. You will use it not only for cleaning boilers, drains, and pipes. The dosage is determined by the relevant working procedure. Sodium hydroxide is a hygroscopic substance. It absorbs carbon dioxide from the air. It easily dissolves in water and ethanol. A large amount of heat is released during dissolution. The solution reacts strongly alkaline.
Hair, fur, animal hair, nails, and other organic deposits are often the cause of blockages in drains in the kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. These impurities form a strong and resistant barrier that almost prevents water flow. Blocked drains and toilets are a common problem that almost every household encounters. In a home environment, lye serves mainly to clean pipes and wastewater. It handles various organic materials without issues and can clear clogged drains in just a few minutes.
Sodium hydroxide, commonly referred to as lye, is a very strong corrosive substance. It is also known as natron, sodium hydroxide, or caustic soda. The chemical formula of lye is NaOH. This substance is neither explosive nor flammable, but it can decompose under the influence of heat, releasing toxic or corrosive gases.
