Surface preparation
The surface must be load-bearing, clean, dry, free of dust and grease. If necessary, suck out the dust and clean the surface with a suitable solvent-based cleaner. Remove any adhesive, silicone or poorly adhering paint from the surface. Protect surrounding surfaces with foil or masking tape.
1. The surface must be clean, dry, free of dust and grease.
2. On non-absorbent substrates, apply a thin layer of adhesive to one bonded surface, on absorbent substrates apply to both bonded surfaces. Choose the amount of adhesive according to the absorbency of the substrate. The more absorbent, the more glue.
3. Immediately after applying the adhesive, fix the glued surfaces for at least 30 minutes with even pressure on the entire glued surface.
4. The adhesive reaches its final strength after about 24 hours.
Bonding on non-absorbent substrates:
When bonding on non-absorbent substrates (e.g. metal, glass) wipe both bonded surfaces with a damp cloth and apply only a thin layer of adhesive.
Bonding on absorbent substrates:
Highly absorbent substrates (e.g. wood) glue with more glue. In some cases, it is a good idea to apply the adhesive to both bonded surfaces.
Bonding painted surfaces:
Pattex 100% can also be applied to painted surfaces. However, in this case we recommend to perform a compatibility test with the surface.
