Uniflex chamotte filling compound, 1.5 kg

Chamotte filling compound is intended for the construction, repair, and grouting of fireplaces and stove tiles, as well as for gluing lightweight fireproof boards, mats, or chamotte slabs and elements to ceramic and metal substrates. It can be used for minor repairs as well as for the actual construction of a new fireplace, provided that the correct mixing ratio and a maximum thickness of the individual layers of mortar up to 5 mm are adhered to.

Preparation of the filling adhesive and construction mortar:

Depending on the extent of the repair or construction, choose the amount of chamotte mortar to be prepared. For a whole package, prepare a solution of water and water glass (total 1 l) in a 1:1 ratio, i.e. 0.5 l of water glass and 0.5 l of water. Pour the contents of the bag (5 kg) into a container and pour in the prepared solution, mix well and let it sit for about 3 minutes. Then stir lightly and the mortar is ready for use. It is recommended to prepare only as much as you can process within 2 hours. In case of interruption, lightly smooth the material in the container and pour 1 mm of water over it. This prevents drying out, and work can continue by pouring off the water later.

Construction and repair of heating areas:

When building new fireplaces, it is essential to monitor the maximum layer of mortar up to 5 mm. Lightly moisten chamotte bricks and elements before laying them! For grouting and repairing damaged masonry, proceed as follows: Moisten the repair areas with water, then fill them with the prepared mortar and smooth the surface. The repaired heating area should be allowed to dry according to the size and extent of the repair for 12–24 hours. Then dry it with gentle heating (2–6 hours) until the repaired areas harden completely.

Gluing to a metal substrate:

The substrate must be cleaned of grease and especially rust; we recommend using a rust remover. It is advisable to paint the substrate with a thinner mortar before gluing. Allow the layer to dry before proceeding with the gluing. The mortar can also be used for protecting and repairing internal masonry, ovens, and thermally stressed metal parts. It can be applied in all places where the temperature does not exceed 1400 °C.

Safety instructions:
When working, use protective gloves, protective clothing, and protective goggles or a face shield. Observe basic hygiene rules! After work, wash your hands and affected skin with water and soap and treat with a suitable repair cream. In case of eye contact, rinse eyes with running water; in case of accidental ingestion, rinse mouth, drink 0.5 l of water, and seek medical attention. In more serious cases, always seek medical help.
