Jub Jupol Citro mold-resistant paint, 5 l

JUPOL Citro is an interior paint made from a water-based dispersion of polymer binders. It is primarily designed for decorative protection of walls and ceilings in areas where high relative humidity increases the likelihood of condensation and thus the formation of mold in corners, behind cabinets, and elsewhere. We particularly recommend it for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, pantries, and similar spaces in residential and commercial buildings, schools, kindergartens, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, and other public and industrial spaces, where washability or resistance to wet abrasion is not required for the coating.

Suitable substrates include various types of plaster, surfaces leveled with different leveling compounds, textured paper wallpapers, as well as drywall and fiber-cement boards, chipboards, unplastered concrete, etc. Application to older, firmly adhering dispersion coatings and well-bonded decorative plasters of various kinds is also possible.

JUPOL Citro is characterized by an exceptionally low content of volatile organic compounds, and it contains no heavy metals. During application and drying, it pleasantly smells of lemon. It applies easily and is available in many pastel color shades. Even surfaces frequently moistened by condensation remain resistant for a relatively long time against the most common types of mold after painting. The resistance of the paint can be further increased by adding 5 to 7.5% (50 to 75 ml/l) of JUBOCID. The colored film is highly vapor-permeable and resistant to dry abrasion (when wiped with a damp cloth or sponge, it softens and is damaged!).

170 - 200 ml/m² in two layers, depending on the roughness and absorbency of the substrate.

Preparation of substrate Jupol Citro:

The substrate must be firm, dry, and clean – free from loose particles, dust, remnants of formwork oils, grease, and other contaminants.

New plasters and leveling compounds should be left to dry in normal conditions (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%) for at least 1 day for each mm of thickness; for concrete substrates, the drying time is at least one month. All coatings and sprays that peel off the substrate when wet should be removed from already painted surfaces,
oil paints, varnishes, and enamels. Surfaces attacked by mold must be disinfected before painting.

Before the first coloring, a primer is mandatory. We recommend AKRYL Emulsion, diluted with water as per the instructions for use, for problematic or lower-quality substrates (lower-quality drywall, gypsum plasters, fiber-cement boards, lime plasters and leveling compounds, fiber-cement boards, chipboards, and unplastered concrete surfaces, etc.). JUKOL Primer, diluted with water per the instructions for use, is recommended. The primer is applied with a paint or masonry brush, a roller with a long nap, or by spraying. Under normal conditions (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%), we can start applying the paint 6 hours (AKRYL Emulsion) or 12 hours (JUKOL Primer) after applying the primer.

Preparation of Jupol Citro paint:

Mix the paint thoroughly before use, and if necessary, it can be diluted with water to achieve the consistency suitable for the given technique and conditions of application (max. 10%). WARNING! Diluting the paint significantly reduces its opacity! The paint that we need for painting a continuous area (or preferably all surfaces we are painting to the same shade) should be equalized (mixed together) in a container of suitable size. For large areas, where it is technically not possible to prepare the paint for even one coat in this way, mix at least three buckets of paint first in the equalization container.

As soon as one-third of the prepared paint is consumed, additional paint is added to the container, and it is well mixed with the remaining material in the container, and so on. Equalizing white paint of the same production batch that we did not dilute is not necessary. Any "adjustments" to the paint during the application (adding tinting agents, diluting, etc.) are not allowed. The amount of paint needed for painting individual surfaces is calculated or estimated based on the area of these surfaces and the average consumption data; if necessary, we determine the consumption by applying it to a sufficiently large test area.

Application of Jupol Citro paint:

The paint is applied in two layers with a time interval of 4 – 6 hours (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%) using a roller with a long nap (nap length of 18 to 20 mm; natural or synthetic fiber or fabric from various synthetic fibers – polyamide, dralon, vestan, nylon, perlon, or polyester), a brush suitable for applying dispersion paints, or by spraying. When applying with a roller, a suitable drip tray is used.

Each continuous area is painted consistently and without interruption from one edge to the other. Surfaces inaccessible to the standard long-nap roller or spray gun (corners, edges, grooves, narrow reveals, etc.) are painted beforehand in each layer of paint, using a suitable brush or a smaller roller adjusted for the given conditions. Painting is only possible under suitable microclimatic conditions; the air and substrate temperatures must be between +5 and +35 °C, and the relative humidity must not exceed 80%.
