JUPOL Citro is an interior paint made from a water-dispersed polymer binder. It is primarily intended for decorative protection of walls and ceilings in spaces where due to high relative humidity of the air, there is a significant likelihood of condensation and thus the formation of mold in corners, behind cabinets, and elsewhere. We particularly recommend it for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, pantries, and similar spaces in residential and commercial buildings, schools, kindergartens, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, and other public and industrial facilities, where washability or resistance to wet abrasion is not required.
Suitable substrates include various types of plasters, surfaces leveled with various leveling compounds, textured paper wallpapers, but also drywall and fiber-cement boards, chipboards, unplastered concrete, etc. Application on older firm dispersion coatings and well-adhesive decorative plasters of various types is also possible.
JUPOL Citro is characterized by an exceptionally low content of volatile organic compounds and does not contain heavy metals. During application and drying, it has a pleasant lemon scent. It applies easily and is available in many pastel color shades. Even surfaces that are often damp due to condensation remain relatively resistant to the most common types of mold for a considerable time after painting. The paint's resistance can be further enhanced by adding 5 to 7.5% (50 to 75 ml/l) of JUBOCID. The colored film is highly vapor-permeable and resistant to abrasion in dry conditions (when wiped with a damp cloth or sponge, it softens and gets damaged!).
170 - 200 ml/m² in two coats, depending on the roughness and absorbency of the substrate.
white (shade 1001), matte
The substrate must be firm, dry, and clean – free from loose particles, dust, residues of formwork oils, grease, and other impurities.
New plasters and leveling compounds should be allowed to dry in normal conditions (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%) for at least 1 day for each mm of thickness; for concrete substrates, the drying time is at least one month. From already painted surfaces, remove all coatings and sprays that peel off the substrate when moistened,
oil paints, varnishes, and enamels. Surfaces affected by mold must be disinfected before painting.
A primer coat is mandatory before the first painting. We recommend the AKRYL Emulsion, diluted with water according to its usage instructions, for problematic or lower-quality substrates (less quality drywall, gypsum plasters, fiber-cement boards, lime plasters, and leveling compounds, fiber-cement boards, chipboards, and unplastered concrete surfaces, etc.). Use JUKOL Primer diluted with water according to its usage instructions for these substrates. The primer coat is applied with a paintbrush or masonry brush, a roller with long fibers, or by spraying. Normal conditions (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%) allow us to begin painting with the color 6 hours (AKRYL Emulsion) or 12 hours (JUKOL Primer) after applying the primer coat.
Before use, mix the paint thoroughly, and if necessary, it can be diluted with water (max. 10%) to achieve a consistency suitable for the specific application technique and conditions. WARNING! Thinning significantly reduces the opacity of the paint! The paint needed for painting a cohesive area (or preferably all areas painted in the same shade) should be equalized (mixed together) in a suitably sized container. For large areas where it's not technically possible to prepare the paint for a single coat in this way, mix the paint from at least three buckets in an equalizing container first.
Once we use one-third of the prepared paint, add more paint to the container and mix it well with the remaining material in the container, and so on. Equalizing white paint of the same production batch that we haven't diluted is not necessary. Any "adjustments" to the paint during application (adding tinting agents, thinning, etc.) are not allowed. The amount of paint needed for individual areas is calculated or estimated based on the area of these surfaces and information about the average consumption; if necessary, we determine the consumption by applying it to a sufficiently large test area.
The paint is applied in two coats with a time interval of 4 – 6 hours (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%) using a paint roller with long fibers (fiber length 18 to 20 mm; natural or synthetic fibers or fabric made from various synthetic fibers – polyamide, dralon, vestan, nylon, perlon, or polyester can be used), a brush suitable for applying dispersion paints, or by spraying. When using a roller, a suitable drip tray should be used.
Each cohesive area is painted continuously and without interruption from one edge to the other. Inaccessible surfaces for standard rollers with long fibers or spray guns (corners, edges, grooves, narrow reveals, etc.) are painted first in each layer using a suitable brush or a smaller roller adapted to the given conditions. Painting is only possible under suitable microclimatic conditions; the air and substrate temperature must be between +5 and +35 °C, and the relative humidity of the air no more than 80%.
