Jub Jupol Citro mold-resistant paint, 2 l

JUPOL Citro is an interior paint made from a water-based dispersion of polymer binders. It is primarily intended for the decorative protection of walls and ceilings in areas where there is a high probability of condensation due to high relative humidity, and thus the formation of mold in corners, behind cabinets, and elsewhere. We particularly recommend it for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, pantries, and similar areas in residential and commercial properties, schools, kindergartens, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, and other public and industrial facilities where washability or resistance to wet abrasion is not required for the coating.

Suitable substrates include various types of plasters, surfaces leveled with various leveling compounds, textured paper wallpapers, as well as drywall and fiber-cement boards, chipboards, unplastered concrete, etc. It is also possible to apply it over older solid dispersion coatings and well-adhering decorative plasters of various kinds.

JUPOL Citro is characterized by an extremely low content of volatile organic compounds and does not contain heavy metals. During application and drying, it pleasantly smells of lemon. It is easy to apply and is available in many pastel color shades. Even surfaces frequently dampened by condensation remain relatively resistant to the most common types of mold for a significant period after painting. The color's resistance can be further enhanced by adding 5 to 7.5% (50 to 75 ml/l) of JUBOCID. The colored film is highly vapor-permeable and resistant to dry abrasion (when wiped with a damp cloth or sponge, it softens and gets damaged!).

170 - 200 ml/m² in two coats, depending on the roughness and absorbency of the substrate.

Substrate preparation for Jupol Citro:

The substrate must be solid, dry, and clean – free from loose particles, dust, remnants of form oils, grease, and other contaminants.

New plasters and leveling compounds should be allowed to dry under normal conditions (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%) for at least 1 day for each mm of thickness; for concrete substrates, the drying time is at least one month. From already painted surfaces, all coatings and spray applications that peel off the substrate when wet must be removed,
including oil paints, varnishes, and enamels. Surfaces affected by mold must be disinfected before painting.

A primer coat is mandatory before the first painting. We recommend AKRYL Emulsion, diluted with water according to the instructions for use, for more problematic or lower quality substrates (lower quality drywall, gypsum plasters, fiber-cement boards, lime plasters and leveling compounds, fiber-cement boards, chipboards, and unplastered concrete surfaces, etc.) JUKOL Primer, diluted with water according to the instructions for its use. The primer coat is applied with a painter's or masonry brush, a long-haired roller, or by spraying. Under normal conditions (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%), we can start applying the paint 6 hours (AKRYL Emulsion) or 12 hours (JUKOL Primer) after applying the primer coat.

Preparation of Jupol Citro paint:

Before use, thoroughly stir the paint, and if necessary, it can be diluted with water (max. 10%) to achieve the desired consistency for the given application technique and conditions. WARNING! The coverage of the paint significantly decreases with dilution! The paint needed for covering a cohesive area (or preferably all areas that we are painting to the same shade) should be equalized (mixed together) in an appropriately sized container. For large areas, where it is technically impossible to prepare the paint this way for even one coat, we mix the paint in the equalization container from at least three buckets.

Once we have consumed one-third of the prepared paint, we add more paint to the container and mix it well with the remaining material in the container, and so on. Equalization of white paint from the same production batch, which we have not diluted, is not necessary. Any “adjustments” to the paint during application (adding colorants, dilution, etc.) are not allowed. The amount of paint needed for painting individual surfaces is calculated or estimated based on the area of these surfaces and the average consumption information; if necessary, we determine the consumption by applying it to a sufficiently large test surface.

Application of Jupol Citro paint:

The paint is applied in two coats with an interval of 4 – 6 hours (T = +20 ºC, rel. humidity = 65%) using a long-haired paint roller (hair length 18 to 20 mm; both natural and synthetic fibers or fabrics from various synthetic fibers – polyamide, dralon, vestan, nylon, perlon, or polyester can be used), a suitable brush for applying dispersion paints, or by spraying. When applying with a roller, we use a suitable drip grid.

Each cohesive surface is painted continuously and without interruption from one edge to the other. Surfaces that are inaccessible for a standard long-haired roller or spray gun (corners, edges, grooves, narrow reveals, etc.) are painted first in each layer and a suitable brush or the appropriately sized smaller roller is used. Painting is only possible under suitable microclimatic conditions; the air and substrate temperature must be between +5 and +35 °C, and the relative humidity must not exceed 80 %.
