Synthetic thixotropic wood stain.
CHARACTERISTICS AND USE:
LAZUROL GOLD S1037 wood stain is intended for long-term protective colored transparent coatings for soft and hard wood exposed to weather influences as well as for interior coatings, e.g., garden furniture, wooden facades, ceilings, wall paneling, fences, cottages, and wooden houses. It creates an attractive (decorative) protective coating film on the wood surface that emphasizes the wood grain while strengthening the wood and providing long-term protection against moisture and UV radiation.
Key properties:
• long lifespan
• non-dripping during application
• exclusive appearance
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
Wood must be clean, dry, well-sanded, with a maximum moisture content of 12%, free from resin residues before application. Wood with a high resin content (larch, pine) must be previously stripped of all resin exudates, e.g., by washing with BALTECH C6000 thinner. The quality of the wood preparation depends on the overall appearance of the final wood finish and also the overall lifespan of the coating system.
The wood surface should first be treated with a suitable primer, which ensures uniform absorption of the substrate and higher protection of the wood (if using a fungicidal primer, it also protects the wood against attacks by fungi and insects). The wood surface must then be sanded with fine sandpaper, and only then should the thick-layer stain be applied.
For interior coatings, it is advisable to use clear LAZUROL CLASSIC S1023 as a primer, while for exterior coatings, LAZUROL IMPREGNATION BASE S1033 is suitable as a primer.
In renovation coatings, it is essential to remove old non-adhering coatings and ensure good substrate strength (when completely removing the old coating, the new coating is applied gradually, including treating the wood).
DILUTION: thinner BALTECH S6006 (especially for cleaning tools)
Theoretical yield: 17 m2/1 liter for one coat depending on the substrate absorption
WORKING PROCEDURE:
Before use, mix thoroughly. LAZUROL GOLD is not diluted and is applied with a brush or roller on a pre-prepared, primed, and lightly sanded wooden substrate in 2 to 3 layers, the second coat can be applied after 6 hours. Any sanding of the previous coat is possible after 24 hours. The coating is applied in the direction of the wood grain. Color shades are mutually mixable. The type, surface, and previous coating of the wood affect the final color shade of the coating, therefore it is recommended to perform a test application before the final application. Complaints about color shades will only be accepted if a test application was conducted prior to execution and reported to us.
For large areas, always use material from the same production batch. Using the same production batch guarantees the same color shade. We recommend mixing color shades from different batches in a larger container before application. The shade of the stain further depends on the number and thickness of layers applied (the color samples are developed on sanded spruce wood, on which 3 coats were applied with a brush according to the recommended procedure).
This product is not suitable for coating floors and wood in permanently damp environments (e.g., saunas), wood treated with oils or waxes, or products containing waxes.
If this product is used on wood with a high tannin content (black locust, oak, larch), a test application must be performed first. Due to the high tannin content, slow drying, subsequent leaching of tannins, and overall impact on the appearance of the coating film may occur.
Toning:
Other color shades are prepared by toning in the TELURMIX tinting system.
You may find covering materials, such as paper masking tape or covering foil, useful. Don't forget brushes and rollers.
