SOKRATES® Wood Stain is a water-dilutable stain. It is intended for outdoor and indoor environments, for industrial production, for crafts and hobby use. It protects wood from UV radiation. It creates silky glossy, pleasantly soft velvet surfaces. Modified linseed oil gives the stain extreme penetration properties. The highly hydrophobic stain minimizes moisture penetration into the wood. The surface of the rustic color resists attacks from molds and fungi. It prevents further growth into the wooden substrate. The stain dries more slowly. It should not be diluted before use. Only in case of necessity.

Application:
SOKRATES Wood Stain is intended for top coats on outdoor wooden facades of buildings, pergolas, fences, cabins, entrance doors, windows, etc. Indoors, it is used for coating ceilings, wall paneling, beams in attics, and similar. It is recommended to treat the wood surface before application for outdoor use with sandpaper no. 80 - 100. NOT with a rotary sander. A perfectly smooth wood surface is not ideal. Although the rustic stain is not a specialty coating for wooden floors, it is still suitable for coatings of outdoor walking surfaces with a non-slip relief. For shoes soiled with sand, a cleaning zone is recommended. It withstands weather influences significantly longer than oils. The recommended application layer is 2 to 3 coats, depending on the degree of load, exposure, and similar.
Where there is a risk of wood being attacked by wood-destroying fungi due to moisture, it is recommended to treat the wood with Lignofix E plus, or another suitable biocidal agent before applying the stain. Another biocidal product must be tested in advance, and the manufacturer-recommended waiting time for subsequent application of water-dilutable coatings must be strictly adhered to. Lignofix E plus must have a waiting period of 2 days before the stain. Shoes soiled with sand damage the surface. The contaminated surface should not be scrubbed, especially when wet, with hard brushes. The floor surface must ensure free drainage of water. Non-absorbent woods with a high tannin content prolong drying time.
Hard less absorbent woods: oak, Siberian pine, Siberian larch, ash, etc. Due to the high tannin content, subsequent slow drying, and the risk of leaching of tannins, it is recommended to apply the first coat of rustic stain diluted with water in a ratio of 1:1. After drying - about 12 - 24 hours, we apply the second and third coats.
With wood species with a high tannin content (oak, robinia, teak, bangkirai, larch, Douglas fir, MERBAU!!!! warning), leaching may occur due to rain. This can cause stains on the wood and discoloration of light walls and plasters. Don’t forget about suitable carpentry elements – drip edges.
Soft woods: – spruce, linden, alder, etc. SOKRATES® Wood Stain is applied to new wooden substrates 2 to 3 times, depending on the degree of surface stress. In renovation coatings, it is essential to carefully remove all previous coatings that may reduce the absorbency of the surface. These areas significantly prolong drying time, trigger over-coating, soiling and may even reduce lifespan. After each use, close the packaging very carefully. Do not leave the package unnecessarily open!
Application:
SOKRATES Wood Stain should preferably be applied with a brush, suitable roller, or by spraying, with continuous smoothing with a brush, at a minimum temperature of the coating material, air, and substrate of +10 °C and throughout the drying period. Recommended application temperature: +18 °C to +23 °C
Thinner: Water.
Cleaning of tools: With water, dried paint can be removed with organic solvents.
