Preparation of the substrate for wallpaper glue:

How to glue wallpaper on the wall? The substrate for wallpaper glue must be solid, dry, flat, smooth, free of cracks, and clean. Metal should be treated with an appropriate anti-corrosive primer. Standard construction substrates (plasters, concrete, wood fiber boards, etc.) can be wallpapered directly. If the substrate is painted with a sizing paint, this paint must be removed (by soaking and scraping). To strengthen the substrate and penetrate it, wallpaper glue diluted up to five times with water is used. The penetration coating must dry for at least 2 hours. Larger unevenness must be first repaired with plaster. The repaired substrate must be sanded before starting to wallpaper.

Example of working procedure:

Depending on the type of wallpaper, the glue is diluted – paper wallpapers 2:1 with water, i.e., dilute 1 kg of glue with 0.5 l of water, PVC wallpapers 3:1 with water, i.e., dilute 1 kg of glue with 0.33 l of water), the glue is not diluted for reflective wallpapers.

Actual wallpapering:

Before actually gluing the wallpaper on the wall, cut the wallpaper to the needed length. The wallpapers are soaked in water for 3–10 minutes. The prepared substrate is coated with Apeko wallpaper glue, and after 2 minutes, the gluing begins. Wallpapers are glued from top to bottom and smoothed with a soft brush, sponge, or rubber roller, excess glue is removed with a damp sponge or cloth. The glued wallpapers can be gently washed after 5 days (if coated) with lukewarm water mixed with detergent. The temperature of the substrate and the surrounding environment must not be less than +10 °C during application.

Composition of wallpaper glue:

Viscous solution containing acrylic dispersion and a solution of cellulose derivative in water with the addition of special additives and fungicidal substances.
