White silicone facade paint BARLET is designed for the painting of lime-cement plasters, concretes, aerated concrete, wood, wood fiberboards and particle boards and similar substrates in interiors and exteriors. The surface must be mature, dry, solid, and free from biological infestations (mold, algae). New plasters must cure (carbonate) for at least 4 weeks.

Application method of facade paint:

Apply with a brush, roller, or AIRLESS spraying (e.g. STORCH AIRLESS ST 550, STORCH AIRLESS ST 700, or STORCH AIRLESS ST 800) at a recommended pressure of 100 – 130 bar, nozzle size 517 or 519, and a filter in the gun of 50 mesh. When spraying, we recommend testing the device beforehand.

Example of acrylic facade paint application

The substrate must be dry and mature. Treat overly absorbent, crumbling, or non-cohesive substrates with a suitable acrylic primer like REMAL, BARLET or SOICRAT. Dilute the paint with a maximum of 5 - 10 % water and mix thoroughly. Apply the paint after the primer has dried in two layers with a brush or roller. The paint can also be applied by pressure spraying. Additional layers can be applied only after complete drying. The optimal temperature for painting is 15 to 25 °C. Use products from the same batch for large areas, mix different batches together before use.

Preparation of the substrate:

General conditions that must be met before painting with facade paint:

• plaster repairs in outdoor environments are not suitable,
• original non-cohesive coatings must be removed with a wire brush, scraper or high-pressure water,
• the condition of older substrates should be assessed, remove and repair unsuitable areas with a new lime-cement plaster,
• fresh lime-cement plasters must be cured for at least one month,
• facade paint creates a thin-layer coating that mimics the substrate; after drying new plasters, we recommend rubbing or brushing off sand grains from the surface to avoid shadows on unevenly smoothed plaster,
• the recommended temperature of the substrate and environment during work ranges from +15°C to +25°C. It must not drop below + 7 °C and must not exceed +30 °C.
• painting cannot be done during rain, strong winds and intense sunlight,
• windows, metal parts and eaves must be covered, as dried paint residues are difficult to remove,
• the substrate must be mature and dry before painting, and we recommend measuring the moisture of the plaster with a suitable moisture meter beforehand,
• for larger areas, we recommend applying material from the same batch or mixing individual batches together, which is especially true for color shades,
• some saturated shades exhibit lower hiding power. We recommend applying a more opaque base coat. This usually applies to yellow, orange, and red shades made mostly from organic pigments,
• combining different application methods (brush + roller) needs to be tested in advance, especially with saturated shades – there is a risk of different shade due to the different surface of the paint.
