How to solve mold on the wall? The paint REMAL ANTI-MOLD is a water-dilutable antifungal paint for walls with a preventive effect against the growth of molds such as Penicillium glaucum, Chaetomium globosum, Aspergilus niger, Alternaria tenuis, Aureobasidium pullutans, Scletophona pityophila. The maximum preventive effectiveness of antifungal paint is also achieved against fungi, yeasts, algae, and bacteria.
Antifungal wall paint REMAL provides excellent coverage, is breathable, abrasion-resistant, and has a high whiteness of 90 %. REMAL paint is used for antifungal coatings of plaster, concrete, drywall, cement boards in interiors. The mold-resistant paint shows resistance to wet abrasion – measured according to ČSN EN ISO 11998 – class 5. (classification according to EN 13300). Use antifungal paint safely.
Warning for mold-resistant paint:
Use biocidal products safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
Before painting, remove layers of old and non-adhering coatings. Treat mold-infested areas with the REMAL Sanal renovation agent for masonry V1406 according to the instructions. Treat absorbent substrates with REMAL universal primer, and treat non-cohesive and crumbling substrates with REMAL deep primer. This will remove dust, strengthen the surface, unify absorbency, and ensure primer adhesion. Drying time is 4 hours. For preventive antifungal effect, REMAL antifungal deep primer can be used. Level unevenness on the wall with REMAL Filler. For problematic spots (leaking stains, etc.), it is advisable to use the REMAL Isolation Coat.
Dilute the mold-resistant paint with a maximum of 0.4 liters of water per 1 kg of paint. Then thoroughly mix the mold-resistant paint. Apply with a brush, roller, or spraying in 2 layers, apply the next layer of mold-resistant paint after the previous one has dried, at least after 4 hours. The optimal temperature for painting the mold-resistant paint is 15 to 25 °C. The temperature of the substrate and the environment must not drop below 5 °C during application. For larger areas, use a product from a single batch; mix different batches together before use.
When working, observe basic hygiene rules. The product is not intended for coatings coming into direct contact with food, animal feed, drinking water, or for coatings of children's toys and furniture. Keep out of reach of children. If you feel unwell, seek medical help.
The product is treated with a biocide. It contains 3-iodo-2-propynyl-N-butylcarbamate, 1,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine [ES number 225-208-0], reaction mixture: 5-chloro-2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [ES number 247-500-7] and 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [ES number 220-239-6] (3:1). May cause an allergic reaction.
covering materials, such as paper adhesive tape or covering foil, possibly sanding papers. Don't forget brushes, rollers, and spatulas.
This international standard ISO EN 11998 describes the accelerated method for determining wet abrasion resistance and washability of paint. Regarding the cleanability of coatings, it only specifies the testing method itself but does not specify the contaminating substances. After drying and conditioning, the coated sample is weighed and subjected to wet cleaning cycles in a test abrasion (cleaning) device. The loss of weight is used to calculate the average loss of coating thickness. To determine cleanability, the contaminating substances are applied to equally prepared samples. Specified contaminating substances are left in contact with the coating film for the prescribed time. The coated, contaminated samples are then subjected to cleaning cycles. It is evaluated whether the contaminating substance has been removed and the coating is resistant to wet abrasion.
Five classes are used for evaluation - class 1 is the best – class 5 is the worst. Grading as in school.
How often to paint?
It is generally recommended to paint approximately every 4 to 5 years. However, if you have small children or pets, for hygiene and aesthetic reasons, it is advisable to repaint approximately every 2 years.
