How to solve mold on the wall? The paint REMAL ANTI-FUNGAL is a water-dispersible antifungal wall paint with a preventive effect against the growth of molds such as Penicillium glaucum, Chaetomium globosum, Aspergilus niger, Alternaria tenuis, Aureobasidium pullutans, Sclerophora pityophila. The maximum preventive effectiveness of the antifungal paint is also achieved against fungi, yeasts, algae, and bacteria.
Antifungal wall paint REMAL covers excellently, is breathable, abrasion-resistant, and has a high whiteness of 90 %. The REMAL paint is used for antifungal coatings of plasters, concrete, drywall, cement boards in interiors. The mold-resistant paint shows wet abrasion resistance – measured according to ČSN EN ISO 11998 – class 5. (classification according to EN 13300). Use the antifungal paint safely.
Warning for mold-resistant paint:
Use biocidal products safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
Before painting, remove layers of old and non-adherent coatings. Treat areas affected by mold with the REMAL Sanal remedial agent for masonry V1406 according to the instructions. Treat absorbent substrates with REMAL universal primer, and treat non-adherent and crumbling substrates with REMAL deep primer. This will remove dust, strengthen the surface, unify absorbency, and ensure adhesion of the coating. The drying time is 4 hours. For a preventive antifungal effect, REMAL antifungal deep primer can be used. Level out irregularities on the wall with REMAL Putty. For problematic areas (leaky spots, etc.), it is advisable to use the insulating coating REMAL Flek-strop.
Dilute the mold-resistant paint at a ratio of max. 0.4 l of water per 1 kg of paint. Then mix the mold-resistant paint thoroughly. Apply it with a brush, roller, or spraying in 2 layers, applying the next layer after the previous one has dried, at least after 4 hours. The optimal temperature for applying the mold-resistant paint is 15 to 25 °C. The temperature of the substrate and the environment must not fall below 5 °C during application. Use products from one batch for uniform surfaces; mix different batches together before use.
Follow basic hygiene rules during work. The product is not intended for surfaces in direct contact with food, animal feed, drinking water or for coating children's toys and children's furniture. Keep out of reach of children. If you feel unwell, seek medical attention.
The product is treated with a biocide. It contains 3-iodo-2-propynyl-N-butylcarbamate, 1,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine [ES number 225-208-0], reactive mixture: 5-chloro-2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [ES number 247-500-7] and 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [ES number 220-239-6] (3:1). May cause an allergic reaction.

This international standard ISO EN 11998 describes a quick method for determining wet abrasion resistance and washability of paint. Regarding the cleanability of coatings, it specifies only the testing method itself but does not specify the contaminating substances. After drying and conditioning, the painted sample is weighed and subjected to wet cleaning cycles in a testing abrasion (cleaning) device. From the weight loss, the average thickness loss of the coating is calculated. To determine cleanability, the contaminating substances are applied to similarly prepared samples. Specified contaminating substances are left in contact with the coating film for the prescribed time. Painted, contaminated samples are then subjected to cleaning cycles. It is evaluated whether the contaminating substance has been removed and whether the coating is resistant to wet abrasion.
For evaluation, 5 classes are used - class 1 is the best – class 5 is the worst. Grading is like in school.
How often to paint?
Generally, it is recommended to paint approximately every 4 to 5 years. However, if you have small children or pets in the family, for hygienic and aesthetic reasons, it’s advisable to repaint approximately every 2 years.
