How to solve mold on the wall? The paint REMAL ANTIFUNGAL is a water-based antifungal paint for walls with a preventive effect against the growth of molds such as Penicillium glaucum, Chaetomium globosum, Aspergilus niger, Alternaria tenuis, Aureobasidium pullutans, Scletophona pityophila. The maximum preventive effectiveness of the antifungal paint is also achieved against fungi, yeasts, algae, and bacteria.
Antifungal wall paint REMAL covers excellently, is breathable, wear-resistant, and has a high whiteness of 90 %. REMAL paint is used for antifungal coatings of plaster, concrete, drywall, cetris boards in interiors. The paint against mold exhibits wet abrasion resistance – measured according to ČSN EN ISO 11998 – class 5. (classification according to EN 13300). Use antifungal paint safely.
Warning about the paint against mold:
Use biocidal products safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
Before painting, remove layers of old and non-adhering coatings. Treat areas affected by mold with the REMAL Sanal remedial agent for walls V1406 according to the instructions. Treat absorbent substrates with REMAL universal primer, and non-adherent and crumbling substrates with REMAL deep primer. This will eliminate dust, strengthen the surface, unify absorbency, and ensure coating adhesion. The drying time is 4 hours. For preventive antifungal effect, it is possible to use REMAL antifungal deep primer. Level unevenness on the wall with REMAL Putty. It is advisable to use an insulating coat REMAL Flek-strop on problematic areas (leaky spots, etc.).
Dilute the mold-resistant paint at a maximum ratio of 0.4 l of water to 1 kg of paint. Then mix the mold-resistant paint thoroughly. Apply with a brush, roller, or spraying in 2 layers, applying the next layer of mold-resistant paint after the previous one has dried, minimum after 4 hours. The optimal temperature for painting mold-resistant paint is 15 to 25 °C. The temperature of the substrate and environment must not drop below 5 °C during application. Use products from the same batch for cohesive areas, and mix different batches together before use.
When working, adhere to basic hygiene rules. The product is not intended for coatings that come into direct contact with food, animal feed, drinking water, or for coatings of children's toys and furniture. Keep out of reach of children. If you do not feel well, seek medical help.
The product is treated with a biocide. It contains 3-iodo-2-propynyl-N-butylcarbamate, 1,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine [ES number 225-208-0], reaction mixture: 5-chloro-2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [ES number 247-500-7] and 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [ES number 220-239-6] (3:1). It may cause an allergic reaction.

This international standard ISO EN 11998 describes an accelerated method for determining wet abrasion resistance and washability of paint. Regarding the cleanability of coatings, it only stipulates the test method itself but does not specify contaminating substances. After drying and conditioning, the coated sample is weighed and subjected to wet cleaning cycles in a testing abrasion (cleaning) device. From the weight loss, the average value of the reduction in the thickness of the coating is calculated. To determine cleanability, contaminating substances are applied to equally prepared samples. The specified contaminating substances are left in contact with the coating film for a prescribed duration. Coated, contaminated samples are then subjected to cleaning cycles. It will be evaluated whether the contaminating substance has been removed and whether the coating is resistant to wet abrasion.
For evaluation, 5 classes are used - class 1 is the best – class 5 is the worst. Grading is like in school.
How often should you paint?
It is generally recommended to paint approximately every 4 to 5 years. However, if you have small children or pets in the family, for hygiene and aesthetic reasons, it is advisable to repaint about every 2 years.
