Synthetic thixotropic wood stain.
CHARACTERISTICS AND USE:
LAZUROL GOLD S1037 wood stain is designed for long-term protective colored transparent coatings for soft and hardwood exposed to weather conditions as well as for interior coatings, e.g. garden furniture, wooden gables, ceilings, wall and ceiling cladding, fences, cabins, and wooden houses. It creates an effective (decorative) protective coating film on the surface of the wood, which emphasizes the wood grain while strengthening the wood and providing long-term protection against moisture and UV radiation.
Key properties:
• long service life
• does not run during application
• exclusive appearance
PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE:
The wood must be clean, dry, well-sanded, with a maximum moisture content of 12%, free from residual resins before application. Wood with a high resin content (larch, pine) must be free from all resin exudates beforehand, e.g. by washing with BALTECH C6000 thinner. The quality of the wood pre-treatment affects the overall appearance of the final wood surface finish as well as the overall service life of the coating system.
The surface of the wood must first be impregnated with a suitable impregnant, which ensures uniform absorbency of the substrate and higher wood protection (in the case of using a fungicidal impregnator, also protection against wood infestation by moulds, fungi, and insects). Subsequently, the wooden surface must be sanded with fine sandpaper and then the thick coat stain applied.
For interior coatings, it is advisable to use colorless LAZUROL CLASSIC S1023 as an impregnator, and for exterior coatings, it is recommended to use LAZUROL IMPREGNATION BASE S1033 as an undercoat.
In renovation coatings, the wood must be stripped of old non-adhering coatings and ensure good substrate adhesion (when completely removing the old coating, the new application is carried out gradually, including wood impregnation).
DILUTION: thinner BALTECH S6006 (especially for cleaning tools)
Theoretical yield: 17 m2/1 liter for one coat depending on the absorbency of the substrate
WORKING PROCEDURE:
Before use, mix thoroughly. LAZUROL GOLD is not diluted, it is applied with a brush or roller onto a pre-prepared, impregnated, and lightly sanded wooden substrate in 2 to 3 layers, the second coat can be applied after 6 hours. Any necessary sanding of the previous coat can be done after 24 hours. The coating is applied in the direction of the wood grain. Color shades are mutually compatible. The type, surface, and previous coating of the wood affect the final shade of the coating, so it is recommended to do a test coating before final application. Complaints about color shades will only be accepted if a test coating was done before implementation and was reported to us.
For contiguous areas, always use material from the same production batch. When using the same production batch, the same color shade is guaranteed. Different batch color shades are recommended to be mixed in a larger container before application. The shade of the stain also depends on the number and thickness of coats (the color sample was developed on planed spruce wood to which 3 coats were applied with a brush according to the recommended procedure).
This product is not suitable for coating floors and wood in permanently damp environments (e.g. saunas), wood treated with oils or waxes, or products containing waxes.
If this product is used to treat wood with a high tannin content (acacia, oak, larch), a test coating must be performed first. Due to the high tannin content, slow drying may occur, followed by tannin leaching and overall affecting the appearance of the coating film.
Toning:
Other color shades are prepared by toning in the TELURMIX toning system.
You may need covering materials, such as paper masking tape or covering foil. Don’t forget brushes and rollers.
