SOKRATES® Wood Stain is a water-dilutable stain. It is intended for outdoor and indoor environments, for industrial production, crafts, and hobby use. It protects wood from UV radiation. It creates silk-gloss, soft-touch velvety surfaces. Modified linseed oil gives the stain extreme penetration properties. The highly hydrophobic stain minimizes moisture penetration into the wood. The surface of the country color resists mold and fungus attacks. It prevents their further growth into the wooden substrate. The stain dries more slowly. It is not diluted before use, only in cases of necessity.

Application:
SOKRATES Wood Stain is intended for top coats on outdoor wooden cladding of buildings, pergolas, fences, cabins, entrance doors, windows, and more. In interiors, it is used for painting ceilings, wall cladding, beams in attics, and similar. It is recommended to treat the surface of the wood before application for outdoor use with sandpaper No. 80 - 100. NOT with a rotary sander. A perfectly smooth surface of the wood is not ideal. Although the Country Stain is not a special coating material for wooden floors, it is still suitable for coating outdoor walking surfaces with a non-slip relief. For shoes soiled with sand and similar, a cleaning zone is suitable. It withstands weather influences much longer than oils. The recommended application layer is 2 to 3 coats, depending on the degree of load, exposure, and similar.
Where there is a risk of wood being attacked by wood-destroying fungi due to moisture, it is recommended to treat the wood with Lignofix E plus or another suitable biocidal agent before applying the stain. Another biocidal preparation must be tested in advance and strictly follow the manufacturer's recommended interval for the subsequent application of water-dilutable coatings. Lignofix E plus must have a time interval of 2 days before the stain. Shoes contaminated with sand damage the surface. The contaminated surface must not be scrubbed, especially when wet, with hard brushes. The surface of the floor must ensure free drainage of water. Non-absorbent woods with high tannin content prolong drying.
Hard low-absorbent woods: oak, Siberian pine, Siberian larch, ash, etc. Due to the high tannin content, subsequent slow drying, and the risk of leaching of tannins, it is recommended to apply the first coat of Country Stain diluted with water in a ratio of 1:1. After drying, about 12 - 24 hours, apply the second and third layers.
In woods with a high tannin content (oak, black locust, teak, bangkirai, larch, Douglas fir, MERBAU !!!! caution) there may be leaching due to rain. This may cause stains on the wood and discoloration of light walls and plasters. Don’t forget suitable roofing elements – drip edges.
Softwoods: – spruce, lime, alder, etc. SOKRATES® Wood Stain is applied to new wooden substrates 2 to 3 times, depending on the degree of surface stress. In renovation coatings, it is essential to carefully remove all previous coatings that may reduce surface absorbency. These areas significantly prolong drying, initiate overlap, staining, and may also cause reduced durability. After each use, carefully seal the packaging. Do not leave the packaging unnecessarily open!
Application:
SOKRATES Wood Stain should preferably be applied with a brush, suitable roller, or spraying, while continuously smoothing with a brush, at a minimum temperature of the coating material, air, and substrate + 10 °C and throughout the drying period. Recommended application temperature: + 18 °C to + 23 °C
Thinner: Water.
Cleaning of tools: With water, dried paint can be removed with organic solvents.
