SOKRATES® Farmhouse Stain is a water-based stain. It is designed for outdoor and indoor environments, for industrial production, for craft work, and hobby use. It protects wood from UV radiation. It creates a silky gloss, pleasant to the touch, velvety surfaces. Modified linseed oil gives the stain extreme penetration properties. The highly hydrophobic stain minimizes moisture penetration into the wood. The surface of the Farmhouse paint is resistant to mold and fungus attacks. It prevents further growth into the wooden substrate. The stain dries more slowly. It is not diluted before use. Only if necessary.

Usage:
SOKRATES Farmhouse Stain is intended for top coatings of outdoor wooden cladding of buildings, pergolas, fences, cabins, entrance doors, windows, etc. In interiors, it is used for coatings on ceilings, wall cladding, beams in attics, and similar. The surface of the wood should be prepared with sandpaper No. 80 - 100 before application for outdoor use. NOT with a rotary sander. A perfectly smooth surface of the wood is not ideal. Although the Farmhouse Stain is not a special coating material for wooden floors, it is still suitable for coatings of outdoor walkable surfaces with a slip-resistant texture. For shoes contaminated with sand, a cleaning zone is suitable. It withstands weather influences significantly longer than oils. The recommended application layer is 2 to 3 coats, depending on the level of load, exposure, and similar.
Where there is a risk of wood being attacked by wood-destroying fungi due to moisture, we recommend treating the wood with Lignofix E plus, or another suitable biocidal agent before applying the stain. Any other biocidal preparation must be tested in advance, and strict adherence to the manufacturer's recommended interval for subsequent application of water-based coatings must be observed. Lignofix E plus must have a time interval of 2 days before applying the stain. Shoes contaminated with sand damage the surface. The contaminated surface must not be scrubbed, especially when wet, with hard brushes. A free drainage of water must be ensured from the floor surface. Non-absorptive woods with a high tannin content prolong drying.
Hard less absorbent woods: oak, Siberian pine, Siberian larch, ash, etc. Due to the high content of tannins, subsequent slow drying, and the risk of leaching tannins, we recommend applying the first coat of Farmhouse Stain diluted with water in a ratio of 1:1. After drying - about 12 - 24 hours, apply the second and third layers.
In woods with a high tannin content (oak, locust, teak, bangkirai, larch, Douglas fir, MERBAU !!!! caution) leaching due to rain can occur. This may cause the appearance of stains on the wood and discoloration of light walls and plasters. Do not forget suitable roofing elements – drip edges.
Soft woods: – spruce, linden, alder, etc. SOKRATES® Farmhouse Stain is applied to new wooden substrates 2 to 3 times. Depending on the level of surface stress. In renovation coatings, it is essential to carefully remove all previous coatings that may reduce the surface's absorbency. These surfaces significantly prolong drying time, cause smudging, and can also lead to reduced lifespan. After each use, carefully close the container. Do not leave the container open unnecessarily long!
Application:
SOKRATES Farmhouse Stain is applied preferably with a brush, suitable roller, or spraying, while continuously brushing and at a minimum temperature of the coating material, air, and substrate of + 10°C throughout the drying time. The recommended temperature for application: + 18°C to + 23°C
Diluent: Water.
Cleaning Tools: With water, dried paint can be removed with organic solvents.
