CHARACTERISTICS AND USAGE:

Single-coat satin finish paint combining properties of a base anti-corrosive coating, intermediate layer, and a top coat. It is intended for direct application on metals in both outdoor and indoor environments. Metal paint is ideal for painting steel materials, oxidized and freshly galvanized surfaces such as roofs, metal structures, poles, fences, columns, gates, etc. It can also be used for painting absorbent substrates such as wood and particle board. The Teflon contained in the paint creates a non-wetting layer on the surface, preventing dirt, airborne deposits, and water from adhering and affecting the painted surface. Therefore, the HOSTAGRUND 3v1 PRIM coating exhibits long durability, excellent weather resistance, and perfect barrier protection. It is available in a wide range of shades, and to those who prefer an individual shade, its tint base is available for the realization of another 5,000 shades.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:

The substrate for application must be clean, dry, free from grease, loose rust, and dust, and mechanically cleaned. First of all, the surface must be degreased using an appropriate cleaning agent (e.g., BALTECH P6402 TECHNICAL BENZINE, BALTECH P6401 ACETONE or, where possible, hot pressurized water containing detergent). To remove any remaining salts, the surface should then be rinsed with clean water. Coarse and well-adhered dirt must be removed manually or mechanically (grinding, scraping). Any loose rust can also be removed manually or mechanically (metal brushes, grinding discs).
Pre-treatment of freshly galvanized sheet metal before painting: prepare a mixture of 10 l of water, 0.5 l of ammonia water (25% solution), and approx. 50 ml of wetting agent (detergent). This solution is applied to the treated sheet and after about 10 minutes of action, it is spread, e.g., with a synthetic wool cloth on a handle, until a metallic gray foam is formed. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water. The paint is applied after the sheet has dried completely. Absorbent substrates must first be impregnated with a suitable primer that ensures uniform absorption. Previously painted surfaces must be cleaned, degreased, and stripped of old non-adhering coatings.

Dilution: BALTECH S6006

Theoretical coverage: 10 - 12 m²/ l for one layer

WORKING PROCEDURE:

The paint is applied to the pre-prepared substrate. Before use, the paint is diluted with BALTECH S6006 thinner if necessary and thoroughly mixed. It is applied in 2 to 3 layers depending on the expected environmental demands. The interval for applying individual layers is a minimum of 24 hours. The recommended thickness of one dry layer is 30 – 40 µm. Colors 0912 aluminum and 0970 copper can only be applied with a brush and roller without any claim to aesthetic appearance. These colors are mainly intended for spraying applications.

You might need covering material, such as paper masking tape or covering foil, or possibly sanding papers. Don’t forget brushes and rollers.
