SOKRATES® Wood Stain is a water-based stain. It is intended for outdoor and indoor environments, for industrial production, craft work, and hobby use. It protects wood from UV radiation. It creates a silky gloss and pleasantly soft velvet surfaces. The modified linseed oil gives the stain extreme penetration properties. The highly hydrophobic stain minimizes moisture penetration into the wood. The surface of the Farmer's color resists mold and fungi infestation. It prevents their further growth into the wooden substrate. The stain dries more slowly. It is not diluted before use, only if necessary.

Application:
SOKRATES Wood Stain is intended for top coatings of outdoor wooden cladding for buildings, pergolas, fences, cottages, entrance doors, windows, etc. Indoors, it is used for coating ceilings, wall cladding, beams in attics, and similar surfaces. It is recommended to prepare the surface of the wood for outdoor use with sandpaper No. 80 - 100. NOT with a rotary sander. A perfectly smooth surface of the wood is not ideal. Although the Farmer's stain is not a special coating material for wooden floors, it is still suitable for coating outdoor walkable surfaces with a non-slip relief. For footwear soiled with sand and similar substances, a cleaning zone is recommended. It resists weather effects much longer than oils. The recommended application layer is 2 to 3 coats, depending on the degree of load, exposure, and similar factors.
Where there is a risk of wood being attacked by wood-destroying fungi due to moisture, it is recommended to treat the wood with Lignofix E Plus or another suitable biocidal agent before applying the stain. Another biocidal product must be tested in advance, and the manufacturer's recommended interval for subsequent application of water-based coatings must be strictly followed. Lignofix E Plus must have a time interval of 2 days before applying the stain. Footwear soiled with sand damages the surface. The soiled surface must not be scrubbed, especially when wet, with hard brushes. There must be free drainage of water from the surface of the floor. Non-absorbent woods with a high tannin content prolong drying.
Hard low-absorbing woods: oak, Siberian pine, Siberian larch, ash, etc. due to the high tannin content, subsequent slow drying and the risk of leaching tannins, we recommend applying the first coat of Farmer's stain diluted with water in a ratio of 1 : 1 After drying - approximately 12 - 24 hours, apply the second and third layers.
In hardwoods with a high tannin content (oak, black locust, teak, bangkirai, larch, Douglas fir, MERBAU !!!! caution) rain can cause leaching. This can cause stains on the wood and discoloration of light walls and plaster. Don't forget suitable roofing elements – drip edges.
Softwoods: – spruce, linden, alder, etc. SOKRATES® Wood Stain is applied to new wooden substrates 2 to 3 times, depending on the degree of surface stress. In renovation coatings, it is essential to carefully remove all previous coats that may reduce the surface's absorbency. These surfaces significantly prolong drying, initiate adhesion issues, staining, and may even cause a reduction in lifespan. After each use, carefully close the container. Do not leave the container opened longer than necessary!
Application:
SOKRATES Wood Stain is preferably applied with a brush, suitable roller, or spraying, while continuously smoothing it with a brush and at a minimum temperature of the coating, air, and substrate of + 10 °C and throughout the drying process. The recommended application temperature: + 18 °C to + 23 °C
Diluent: Water.
Tool cleaning: With water, dried paint can be removed with organic solvents.
