SOKRATES® Wood Stain is a water-based stain. It is designed for outdoor and indoor environments, for industrial production, craftsmanship, and hobby use. It protects wood from UV radiation. It creates silky glossy, pleasantly velvety surfaces. Modified linseed oil gives the stain extreme penetrating properties. The highly hydrophobic stain minimizes moisture penetration into the wood. The surface of the Wood Stain is resistant to mold and fungi attacks, preventing their further growth into the wooden substrate. The stain dries more slowly. It should not be diluted before use. Only in case of necessity.

Usage:
SOKRATES Wood Stain is intended for top coatings of outdoor wooden cladding of buildings, pergolas, fences, cabins, entrance doors, windows, etc. In interiors, it is used for coatings of ceilings, wall cladding, beams in attics, and similar areas. The wood surface should be sanded with sandpaper no. 80 - 100 before outdoor use. NOT with a rotary sander. A perfectly smooth wood surface is not ideal. Even though the Wood Stain is not a special coating material for wooden floors, it is still suitable for coatings of outdoor walkable surfaces with a slip-resistant relief. For example, around pools, verandas of cabins, and similar areas. For footwear contaminated with sand, a cleaning zone is suitable. It withstands weather influences significantly longer than oils. The recommended application layer is 2 to 3 coats, depending on the degree of loading, exposure, and so on.
Where there is a risk of moisture leading to wood being attacked by wood-destroying fungi, we recommend treating the wood with Lignofix E plus or another suitable biocidal agent before applying the stain. Other biocidal preparations must be tested in advance, and the manufacturer's recommended waiting period for subsequent application of water-based coatings must be strictly observed. Lignofix E plus must have a waiting period of 2 days before the stain. Footwear contaminated with sand damages the surface. The contaminated surface must not be scrubbed, especially when wet, with hard brushes. A free flow of water must be ensured from the floor surface. Non-absorbent woods with a high tannin content prolong drying time.
Hard, low-absorbent woods: oak, Siberian pine, Siberian larch, ash, etc. Due to the high tannin content, subsequent slow drying, and the risk of leaching of tannins, we recommend applying the first coat of Wood Stain diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio. After drying - about 12 - 24 hours, apply the second and third layers.
For woods with a high tannin content (oak, black locust, teak, bangkirai, larch, Douglas fir, MERBAU !!!! caution), rain may lead to their leaching. This can cause stains on the wood and discoloration of light walls and plasters. Don't forget suitable roofing elements - drip edge.
Soft woods: – spruce, linden, alder, etc. SOKRATES® Wood Stain is applied to new wooden substrates 2 to 3 times, depending on the surface stress level. When refinishing, it is essential to carefully remove all previous coatings that may reduce the surface's absorbency. These surfaces significantly extend the drying time, cause drips, staining, and can also reduce longevity. After each use, carefully seal the container. Do not leave the container open unnecessarily long!
Application:
SOKRATES Wood Stain is preferably applied with a brush, suitable roller, or spray, while continuously spreading with a brush at a minimum temperature of the coating material, air, and substrate of +10 °C and throughout the drying period. The recommended temperature for application: +18 °C to +23 °C
Diluent: Water.
Tool cleaning: With water, dried paint can be removed with organic solvents.
