SOKRATES® Woodstain is a water-dilutable stain. It is intended for outdoor and indoor environments, for industrial production, for craft work, and hobby use. It protects wood from UV radiation. It creates silky glossy, pleasantly soft velvet surfaces. Modified linseed oil gives the stain extreme penetration properties. The highly hydrophobic stain minimizes moisture penetration into the wood. The surface of the Country color resists mold and fungus attacks. It prevents their further growth into the wooden substrate. The stain dries more slowly. It is not diluted before use. Only in case of necessity.

Usage:
SOKRATES Woodstain is intended for top coatings of outdoor wooden cladding of buildings, pergolas, fences, cottages, entrance doors, windows, etc. In interiors, it is used for coating ceilings, wall cladding, beams in the attic, and similar. The wood surface should be sanded with sandpaper No. 80 - 100 before application for outdoor use. NOT with a rotary sander. A perfectly smooth wood surface is not ideal. Although the Country stain is not a specific coating material for wooden floors, it is still suitable for coatings of outdoor walking surfaces with a non-slip relief. For example, around pools, porches of cottages, and similar. For footwear dirty with sand, a cleaning zone is suitable. It withstands weather influences many times longer than oils. The recommended application layer is 2 to 3 coats. Depending on the degree of stress, exposure, and similar.
Where there is a risk of wood-destroying fungi due to moisture, we recommend treating the wood with Lignofix E plus or another suitable biocidal agent before applying the stain. Another biocidal preparation must be tested in advance and the manufacturer’s recommended waiting time for the subsequent application of water-dilutable coatings must be strictly followed. Lignofix E plus must have a time interval of 2 days before staining. Footwear dirty with sand damages the surface. The contaminated surface must not be scrubbed, especially when wet, with hard brushes. The surface of the floor must ensure free drainage of water. Non-absorbent woods with a high tannin content prolong drying.
Hard, low-absorbent woods: oak, Siberian pine, Siberian larch, ash, etc. Due to the high tannin content, subsequent slow drying and the risk of leaching tannins, we recommend applying the first coat of the Country stain diluted with water in a ratio of 1:1. After drying - about 12 - 24 hours, apply the second and third layers.
In species with a high tannin content (oak, robin, teak, bangkirai, larch, Douglas fir, MERBAU !!!! caution), leaching may occur due to rain. This may cause stains on the wood and discoloration of light walls and plasters. Don’t forget suitable metal roofing elements - drip edges.
Soft woods: – spruce, linden, alder, etc. SOKRATES® Woodstain is applied to new wooden substrates 2 to 3 times. Depending on the degree of surface stress. When renovating, it is necessary to carefully remove all previous coatings that may reduce the absorbency of the surface. These areas significantly prolong drying, lead to peeling, staining, and may also be a cause of reduced durability. After each use, close the container very carefully. Do not leave the container unnecessarily open!
Application:
SOKRATES Woodstain is preferably applied with a brush, suitable roller, or spraying, while continuously brushing, at a minimum temperature of the coating, air, and substrate of + 10 °C and throughout the drying period. Recommended application temperature: + 18 °C to + 23 °C
Thinner: Water.
Cleaning tools: With water, dried paint can be removed with organic solvents.
