Synthetic thixotropic wood stain.
CHARACTERISTICS AND USE:
LAZUROL GOLD S1037 wood stain is intended for long-term protective colored transparent coatings of soft and hardwood exposed to weather conditions as well as for interior coatings, e.g., garden furniture, wooden shields, ceilings, wall coverings, fences, cottages, and wooden houses. It creates an effective (decorative) protective coating film on the surface of the wood, highlighting the wood grain and at the same time strengthening the wood and providing long-term protection against moisture and UV radiation.
Key properties:
• long service life
• does not run during application
• exclusive appearance
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
The wood must be clean, dry, well-sanded, with a moisture content of max. 12%, and free of resin residues before application. Wood with a high resin content (larch, pine) must be pre-treated to remove all resin exudations, e.g., by washing with BALTECH C6000 thinner. The quality of wood pre-treatment affects the overall appearance of the final wood finish and also the overall durability of the coating system.
The surface of the wood must first be saturated with a suitable primer that ensures uniform absorbency of the substrate and higher wood protection (in the case of using a fungicidal primer, also protection against wood being attacked by fungi, mold, and insects). Then, the wood surface must be sanded with fine sandpaper before applying the thick-layer stain.
For interior coatings, it is suitable to use colorless LAZUROL CLASSIC S1023 as a primer, while for exterior coatings, LAZUROL IMPREGNATING BASE S1033 is suitable as a primer.
When renovating, it is necessary to remove old non-adhering coatings and ensure good substrate adhesion (if completely removing the old coating, the new coating is applied gradually, including saturating the wood).
DILUTION: thinner BALTECH S6006 (especially for cleaning tools)
Theoretical coverage: 17 m2/1 liter for one coat depending on substrate absorbency
WORKING PROCEDURE:
Before use, mix thoroughly. LAZUROL GOLD is not diluted, and is applied with a brush or roller on a prepared, saturated, and lightly sanded wooden substrate in 2 to 3 coats; the second coat can be applied after 6 hours. Possible sanding of the previous coat can be done after 24 hours. The coating is applied in the direction of the wood grain. Color shades are mutually mixable. The type, surface, and previous coating of the wood affect the resulting shade of the coating; therefore, we recommend performing a test coating before the final application. Complaints about color shades will only be accepted if a test coating has been carried out and reported to us before implementation.
For large areas, always use material from the same production batch. Using the same production batch ensures the same color shade. We recommend mixing different shades from different batches in a larger container before application. The shade of the stain also depends on the number and thickness of the coats (the color sample is based on sanded spruce wood on which 3 brush coats were applied according to the recommended procedure).
This product is not suitable for floor coatings or wood in permanently damp environments (e.g., saunas), wood treated with oils or waxes, or products containing waxes.
If this product is being used for treating wood with a high tannin content (acacia, oak, larch), a test coating should be performed first. Due to the high tannin content, slow drying may occur, followed by leaching of tannins and a general impact on the appearance of the coating film.
Coloring:
Additional color shades can be prepared by tinting in the TELURMIX tinting system.
You might find covering materials, such as paper masking tape or covering film, useful. Don’t forget brushes and rollers.
