Example of painting procedure for facade paint:
General conditions that must be adhered to before painting with facade paint:
- repairs with plaster in outdoor environments are not suitable
- old non-adhering paints must be removed, e.g., with a scraper or pressure water
- older substrates need to be assessed; unsatisfactory ones should be removed and repaired with new lime-cement plaster
- new lime-cement plasters should be allowed to mature for at least one month
- the paint layer is thin - it copies the substrate; therefore, it is recommended to brush or rub off grains of sand from the surface after the new plasters have dried to prevent the formation of shadows on unevenly finished plaster
- the temperature of the substrate and environment during work is recommended to be between 15° C and 25° C; painting should not be done in rain, strong wind, and under strong sunlight
- windows, metal parts, and gutters should be covered, as dried paint residues are difficult to remove
- substrates must be dry and matured before starting painting; it is recommended to check the moisture of the plaster with an appropriate moisture meter before starting
- for painting larger areas, it is recommended to use products from the same batch; if necessary, mix individual batches together, especially regarding color shades
- the combination of different application techniques (roller + brush) should be tested in advance, especially with intense shades - there is a risk of different color due to different surfaces of the paint
Too absorbent, crumbling, or non-adhering substrates must be pre-treated with a suitable primer, such as REMAL, BARLET, or SOICRAT. In cases of local repairs, where it is not possible to wait 4 weeks for plaster to mature, the new plaster can be treated with REMAL TELSAL neutralizing salt after it has dried, and after drying continue with the above-mentioned primer.
Dilute the paint in a ratio of max. 0.05 l of water to 1 kg of paint. Then mix thoroughly. Apply in 2 layers; apply the next layer after the previous one has dried, at least after 4 hours. For contiguous areas, use a product from the same batch; mix different batches together before use.
