Example of painting procedure for facade paint:
General conditions to be observed before applying facade paint:
- repairing with plaster in outdoor environments is not suitable
- old non-adhering coatings must be removed, e.g., with a scraper or high-pressure water
- older substrates need to be assessed; unsatisfactory ones must be removed and repaired with new lime-cement plaster
- new lime-cement plasters must cure for at least one month
- the application of facade paint is thin-layered - it follows the substrate, so we recommend sweeping or rubbing off sand grains from the surface after the new plaster has dried to prevent the formation of shadows on the unevenly smoothed painted plaster
- the temperature of the substrate and environment during work is recommended to be between 15° C and 25° C; painting cannot be performed in rain, strong winds, or intense sunlight
- windows, metal parts, and gutters must be covered; dried paint residues are difficult to remove
- substrates must be dry and matured before starting painting; it is advisable to check the humidity of the plaster with a suitable moisture meter before starting painting
- for painting larger areas, it is recommended to use products from the same batch; if necessary, mix individual batches with each other, especially concerning color shades
- the combination of different application techniques (roller + brush) should be tested beforehand, especially with saturated shades - risk of differing color due to the different surface of the paint
Too absorbent, crumbling, or non-adhering substrates need to be pre-treated with a suitable primer such as REMAL, BARLET, or SOICRAT. In the case of local repairs where waiting 4 weeks for the plaster to cure is not possible, after drying the new plaster, it can be treated with REMAL TELSAL neutralizing salt and after drying continue with the aforementioned primer.
Dilute the paint in a maximum ratio of 0.05 L of water to 1 kg of paint. Then mix thoroughly. Apply in 2 layers, applying the next layer after the previous one has dried, at least after 4 hours. For uniform surfaces, use a product from one batch; mix different batches together before use.
Handling facade paint:
When working, observe basic hygiene rules. The product is not intended for use where it comes into direct contact with food, animal feed, drinking water, or for painting children's toys and furniture. Keep out of reach of children. If you feel unwell, seek medical assistance.
The product is treated with a biocide. It contains a reactive mixture: 5-chloro-2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [EC number 247-500-7] and 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [EC number 220-239-6] (3:1). It may cause an allergic reaction.
Storage of facade paint:
The product retains its useful properties for 5 years from the date of manufacture, in its original unopened container. Store in a dry warehouse at a temperature of 5 to 25 °C.
Disposal of facade paint containers and waste:
Dispose of containers with residual product at the location designated by the municipality for the disposal of other waste. See also section 13 of the product safety data sheet.
You may find covering material helpful, such as paper adhesive tape or covering film. Don't forget brushes and rollers.
