Synthetic thixotropic wood stain.
CHARACTERISTICS AND USE:
LAZUROL GOLD S1037 wood stain is designed for long-term protective colored transparent coatings for soft and hard woods exposed to weather influences as well as for interior coatings, e.g., garden furniture, wooden boards, ceilings, wall and ceiling paneling, fences, cottages, and wooden cabins. It creates an impressive (decorative) protective coating film on the surface of the wood that emphasizes the wood grain while simultaneously strengthening the wood and providing long-lasting protection against moisture and UV radiation.
Key properties:
• long durability
• does not run during application
• exclusive appearance
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
Wood must be clean, dry, well-sanded, with a moisture content of a maximum of 12%, and free from resin residues before application. Wood with a high resin content (larch, pine) must be thoroughly de-resinified, e.g., rinsed with BALTECH C6000 solvent. The quality of the wood pretreatment influences the overall appearance of the final wood surface finish and the overall durability of the coating system.
The wood surface must first be saturated with an appropriate primer that ensures uniform absorbency of the substrate and higher wood protection (in the case of using a fungicidal primer, it also protects against mold, fungi, and insect attacks). Subsequently, the wood surface must be sanded with fine sandpaper and only then can the thick-layer stain be applied.
For interior coatings, it is advisable to use the clear LAZUROL CLASSIC S1023 as a primer, while for exterior coatings, the LAZUROL IMPREGNATION BASE S1033 is suitable as a primer.
When renovating, the wood must be stripped of old non-adhesive coatings and ensure good substrate strength (when completely removing the old coating, the new coating should be applied gradually, including wood saturation).
DILUTION: diluent BALTECH S6006 (especially for cleaning tools)
Theoretical coverage: 17 m2/1 liter for one layer depending on the absorbency of the substrate
WORKING PROCEDURE:
Before use, mix thoroughly. LAZUROL GOLD is not diluted, it is applied with a brush or roller on a pre-prepared, primed, and lightly sanded wooden substrate in 2 to 3 layers, with the second coat being applicable after 6 hours. Any sanding of the previous coat is possible after 24 hours. The coating is applied in the direction of the wood grain. Color shades are mutually mixable. The type, surface, and previous coating of the wood affect the resulting coating shade, so it is recommended to carry out a test coating before final application. Claims for color shades will only be accepted if a test coating was performed before realization and was claimed with us.
For uniform areas, always use material from the same production batch. Using the same production batch guarantees the same color shade. Different batch color shades are recommended to be mixed in a larger container before application. The shade of the stain further depends on the number and thickness of the coats (the color samples are developed on sanded spruce wood, on which 3 brush coats were applied according to the recommended procedure).
This product is not suitable for flooring coatings and wood in permanently damp environments (e.g., saunas), and for wood treated with oils or waxes, or products containing waxes.
If this product is used to treat wood with a high tannin content (acacia, oak, larch), a test coating must be carried out first. Due to the high tannin content, slow drying, subsequent leaching of tannins, and overall influence on the appearance of the coating film may occur.
Coloring:
Additional color shades are prepared by tinting in the TELURMIX tinting system.
You may need covering materials, such as paper masking tape or covering foil. Don’t forget brushes and rollers.
