Application procedure for washable paint:

Old, non-adhering coatings in thicker layers should be scraped off. Before painting, treat the surface with REMAL penetrating primer. This will remove dust, strengthen, unify absorbency, and ensure adhesion. Drying time is 4 hours. Even out imperfections on the wall with REMAL filler. For touching up stains, such as from water ingress, it's advisable to use REMAL Flek-stop sealing paint. Before use, thoroughly stir the paint, it is diluted for painting. If necessary, dilute with a maximum of 5% clean water. Apply with a REMAL Vinyl roller with short pile. The coating covers in one layer. Recoat after a minimum of 4 hours. The optimal temperature for application is 15 to 25 °C. Clean soiled areas and tools immediately after application with water; dried paint is difficult to remove.

Washability of paint in practice is governed by the standard WET ABRASION RESISTANCE ČSN EN ISO 11998

This international standard ISO EN 11998 describes an accelerated method for determining wet abrasion resistance and washability of paint. Regarding the cleanability of coatings, it only specifies the testing method itself but does not specify the soiling substances. After drying and conditioning, the painted sample is weighed and subjected to cleaning cycles in a wet testing abrasion (cleaning) device. From the weight loss, the average value of the thickness loss of the coating is calculated. For determining cleanability, the soiling substances are applied to similarly prepared samples. Specified soiling substances are left in contact with the coating film for a prescribed time. Painted, soiled samples are then subjected to cleaning cycles. It is evaluated whether the soiling substance was removed and the coating is resistant to wet abrasion.

For evaluation, 5 classes are used - class 1 is the best – class 5 is the worst.
