Application procedure for washable paint:

Old non-adherent coatings in thicker layers should be scraped off. Before painting, treat the surface with REMAL deep penetration primer. This removes dust, strengthens, unifies absorbency, and ensures adhesion. Drying time: 4 hours. Level unevenness on the wall with REMAL filler. For retouching stains, like those from water leaks, it is advisable to use the isolating coat REMAL Flek-stop. Before use, mix the coating thoroughly, it is diluted for painting. If necessary, dilute with max. 5% clean water. Apply with the REMAL Vinyl roller with short pile. The coating covers in one layer. Recoat after at least 4 hours. The optimal application temperature is between 15 and 25 °C. Clean contaminated areas and tools immediately after application with water, as dried paint is difficult to remove.

Washability of paint in practice is defined by the standard ABRASION RESISTANCE WHEN WET ČSN EN ISO 11998

This international standard ISO EN 11998 describes an accelerated method for determining abrasion resistance when wet and for determining the washability of the paint. Regarding the cleanability of coatings, it only specifies the testing method itself but does not specify the contaminating substances. After drying and conditioning, the coated sample is weighed and subjected to wet cleaning cycles in a test abrasion (cleaning) device. The loss of weight is used to calculate the average value of the reduction in the thickness of the coating. To determine cleanability, contaminating substances are applied to equally prepared samples. Specified contaminating substances are left in contact with the coating film for the prescribed time. The coated, contaminated samples are then subjected to cleaning cycles. It is evaluated whether the contaminating substance was removed and whether the coating is resistant to wet abrasion.

For evaluation, 5 classes are used - class 1 is the best – class 5 is the worst.
