Synthetic oil-based penetrating stain
CHARACTERISTICS AND USE:
Wood stain S1023 is intended for protective staining of soft and hard wood exposed to weather conditions as well as for indoor applications. It protects wood from the effects of UV radiation. It contains natural oil. The wood stain penetrates deeply into the structure of the wood, enhancing its natural grain and thus providing highly effective coatings. It is characterized by very easy renewability of the old coat. Shade 0000 - clear is intended for interior use only!!
Examples of use: garden furniture, wooden panels, ceiling linings, wall and ceiling coverings, fences, cottages, and wooden houses, windows, doors, cork, priming wooden floors.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
The wood must be clean, dry, well-sanded, with a moisture content of max. 12%, free of resin residues before application. Wood with a high resin content (larch, pine) must be pre-treated to remove all resin exudations, e.g., by washing with BALTECH C6000 thinner. The quality of the wood pre-treatment affects the overall appearance of the final wood surface finish as well as the overall durability of the coating system.
The surface of wood intended for exterior use must first be treated with a suitable fungicidal impregnating agent that provides protection against mold, fungi, and insects, for example, LAZUROL IMPREGNATING BASE S1033. The surface of wood intended for interior use is best treated first with a clear stain LAZUROL CLASSIC S1023. Priming with a clear impregnating agent ensures uniform absorption of the substrate before the application of coating materials. It is then necessary to sand the wood surface with fine sandpaper, and only then apply the penetrating stain. In renovation coatings, it is necessary to remove the old non-adhering layer of paint, e.g., by sanding.
DILUTION: thinner BALTECH S6006 (especially for cleaning tools)
Theoretical coverage: 8 - 10 m²/l per layer depending on substrate absorbency
WORKING PROCEDURE:
Apply with a brush after thorough mixing on the prepared substrate. The stain does not need to be diluted; it is already at application viscosity. During work, it is necessary to regularly stir the staining varnish. For indoor use, it is applied in 1 to 2 coats; for outdoor coatings, three layers are recommended, but only in colored shades. The clear stain is intended for interior applications. Individual coats can be applied at 24-hour intervals. To uniformly enhance the wood's grain, it is advisable to wipe off the excess stain with a dry brush or cloth after 10 to 15 minutes of application. For large areas, always use material from the same production batch. Using the same production batch ensures the same color shade. The type, surface, and previous coating of the wood affect the resulting color shade, so we recommend conducting a test coat before final application. Claims regarding color shades will only be recognized with the claim of the test area.
For high gloss, it is possible to overcoat the dried finish done with LAZUROL CLASSIC S1023 with LAZUROL UNIVERSAL VARNISH S1002 or the natural shade of LAZUROL GOLD S1037 stain. Floors can be overcoated with LAZUROL OUTDOOR WALKABLE VARNISH S1020.
Warning: Absorbent materials (rags, sawdust, papers, dust, etc.) soaked with stain must be disposed of safely, as they may self-ignite under certain conditions.
You may find covering materials such as paper masking tape or covering foil useful. Don’t forget brushes and rollers.
